TSX Theft

I'm not sure if this has already been discussed, but I'll ask again..
couple of questions..

1) I know that Integras are usually the subjects of theft (engine, etc) - does anyone know if this is generally the case with other models (namely the TSX) as well? I have a friend who's had his Integra stolen twice, and a neighbor of mine who owns an 04 TSX, and never stolen. We all live pretty much in the same neighborhood.

2) I'm a proud and recent owner of an 06. What kinds of things are you guys doing to counter theft? Locks, devices, etc? I used to own a steering club back in the day (when I owned a mitsubishi), but does anyone know if clubs will actually deter theft on the TSX's steering column? I know they're pretty easy to cut...

I guess I'm opening this up to potential thieves haha...

FWIW, I haven't seen the TSX listed on any 'most stolen' list yet. Usually Civics, Tegs, Camrys, Accords.

huh?? nvm i was tryna help.
these days as the tsx is getting more exposure they are more "wanted"
but not like the integra type r's and such. but the k24 series engine is drooled upon now. so realize what type of are you live in. bc in ny word travels super quick if theres a parked integra type r. and its gone in less than an hour.

As long as i've been here there were only minor break ins or stolen headlights.

Here and there stolen stock rims, depends on areas.

Its pretty difficult to steal the car as a whole unless they just bring a lift or smart hackers that can bypass the immobilizer.

Oh sorry, I thought you were just jokin around about me opening this dialogue to potential thieves, and you asking where I live...never mind haha. In any case, I live about 20 minutes west of boston.

I guess if people were taking tsx's for parts, it'd already be a somewhat common occurrence by now?

As posted above, it's usually headlights that are stolen.

the 1st gen tsx wasnt that popular of a car, so they are not highly desirable. That does not mean, they dont get stolen though. I wouldnt worry about it too much.

???????? Have you seen the production numbers of the tsx? Compared to popular models, there is no comparison. Theives dont stay away because it is hard to steal, they steal the popular cars for the parts that are worth more because of higher demand.

Civics, Accords, Camrys, Tegs, etc. Look up articles on the most stolen cars. The TSX has never been on there.

Thank You. While i have always been a fan of the TSX, it really isnt that poular of a car to the masses. Ask your average person about a Civic,Accord, or Camry, and they all know what they look like. A TSX? Theres a good chance they dont.

i think you got me wrong there bud, i was refering to its popular amongst car enthusiasts, not car thiefs (fingerscrossed)

besides if you're comparing car, should you not compare the car to the same class?.....cant really compare TSX to any of those vehicles listed

Enthusiasts don't steal cars, though. Thieves steal cars (or their parts).

Class has nothing to do with stealing cars.

Of folks who had their TSX stolen and posted here, I believe 100% of them left their valet key in the glove box or somewhere within the car. That being said, I can think of only 2 or 3 instances of it. As others have mentioned, bits and pieces of the car, like the projectors in the the headlights, seem to get the most attention by thieves. Bypassing the ECU would be something impressive to see since you need key, immobilizer chip, immobilizer ring and ECU combo to get it started and run; the same things you send to Hondata to get a ECU Flash.

True story.

I got my TSX brand new in July 2007. I started school in the fall, and on the first day of school I parked next to a kid and he had a new (at the time) 2007 TSX. We talked about how much we loved our new TSX's and such and parted ways....
The next day I found out a group of punks saw our (then) new TSXs, picked his instead of mine, and then had meticulously plotted how to steal it without anyone noticing!! Long story short, the police found out that they somehow got a key cut for the car, and were able to open the doors and get into the car, then cut the engine immobilizer, and were able to hotwire the car without anyone noticing. They found the TSX about 20 miles away, in a field, totally stripped. Nothing was left but literally the frame of the car!! And just to add insult to injury, since it was the first day of school the poor kid had about $800 in text books in the trunk that the thieves took too!! The whole incident was very scary!! The kid got another new TSX, and nothing has happened to either of our cars since. This happened in NY on a college campus! Crazy people are everywhere!!

In Chicago, lately the Acura RSX has been a target for auto thieves, I myself don't own a RSX but I do own a 08 TSX, as for precaution I already plan on ordering a VIPER 5901 security system.
