The TSX is still one of the best looking sedans around!
3 years and 3 months later, I am still in love with my TSX! I still think that it is one of the best-looking sedans around. When it is parked next to the A4 or the 3 series, it is every bit as handsome (if not more so!) and as competitive as the next car.
Though it is getting more and more popular and I am surely seeing many of them on the street now, every time I see a TSX coming towards mine, it is still exciting and I am still in awe by its handsome looks! Yes, it is a conservative exterior but it surely is gorgeous and the styling really has stood the test of time.
And yes, this thread is purely self-indulgent!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The TSX is a great looking car! It is simple...giving it a "classic" design. It was the main reason I got one over a TL. To me, the TL is a little too edgy. Don't get me wrong...it looks great, but I think it will look more dated as it ages. I still am not sure which I like more, between the 04-05 & 06-07's, cause they're both just that damn good ; )

Well, let me indulge too, as I agree. Understated elegance, classic design, call it what you want. It looks like everything the old 3 series wanted to be without being pretentious. I love this car!

THe styling of this car will last for a LOONG time. IMO it'll last as long as the 3rd Gen RX-7. Looking at the Mazda amazes me due to the fact that it's design still looks better than most new cars out there now. It's a testament to Honda for doing such a great job with R&D. I just hope that Honda continues that tradition with the next gen TSX

I agree that the design gives it a classy look and I also agree that ppl are starting to come around to buying it. Just yesterday I was in the city on my way to NJ and saw 6 tsx but a yr b4 I only use to see once in a blue moon. The weird thing is all 6 I saw were either an 04-05. Anyway, with the popularity of the car going up, its time to throw on a kit to differ myself from the crowd.

I like the tails, too. But I just recently noticed (when letting my 17yo son borrow my car) how differant the tails look with the Mugen air spoiler. My car is PWP and the tails reflect up onto the underside of the overhanging spoiler...kind of odd looking really. Maybe I'll post up some pics when I get a chance...

Best bang for the buck
I'm at my 2nd one, after the first one was totalled by an UPS truck hitting my rear.
It is well engineered, safe, stylish and technologically advanced for its price.
I am looking forward for a TSX hybrid/electric.

I agree that the TSX styling is the best in the Acura line. I'm not a big fan of the character line on the TL. The rear end on the TL is nice. I like the rear end of the TSX except that it looks a little narrow. Tinting the windows gives the car a better stance. One detail I like is the smoked reverse lenses on the '06. I'm coming around on the front end even though it's a little on the plain side. The hood has some nice details with the centerline and subtle grooves on the left and right sides. The profile of the car is smooth, clean and understated. I like the turn signals integrated into the mirrors and the '06 wheels have grown on me since I bought the car in November. The 17s have good size and they're not too loud but have enough "presence". The 7-spoke wheels from '05 are more sporty looking, but they look a little dated to me. The 9-spoke that I have are more luxury oriented, but that OK with me.
Finally, I like how the rear window is flush with the body without using extraneous moldings. I appreciate this aspect every time I wash the car.

Toyota design has never really "spoken" to me. I think the new Lexi have some nice angles, but it falls apart toward the rear of every new vehicle (I always think of a Nissan Maxima - which I've always found to be hideous). And I think the IS looks like a water-strider insect or whatever they're called - not my preference.
Overall, while the IS has some nice characteristics, the TSX is still better looking to me. I knew it would age well when I bought it because, while some derided the "boring" exterior, subtle design is the key when buying a car you plan on keeping for a up to a decade. Flashy cars look great when they come out but, typically, the more flashy, the worse they age. The TL is more flashy than the TSX and, to me, it looks "old" now. Etc.
I think the TSX is better looking overall than the new 3-series, though just slightly - at least BMW has gone in the right direction of toning down the "puckered/pinched" tail lights. It's a nice car and I'd consider getting a new one if I were in the market. When I bought the '04 the 325i wasn't worth the premium to me whereas now I might seriously consider one. I'd probably get used to the new 3 styling.
