Is the TSX slow as my Civic?

I'm reading on carpoint that the 1/4 mile time for the TSX is 16.7~17.3 seconds.

I've read on the Civic forum that people are getting around there on their stock civics. Are the people on their on crack or is that how slow the TSX is? I don't really care to have the fastest car, but would like something faster than my civic.

If I'm not going to notice much difference speed from my Civic EX 127hp, I think I might have to do somet thinking.

Wow. They are definitely on crack. They should stop it now too.

It all depends on whose numbers you read and believe - the Civic does have a 600 lb advantage.

That is kind of hard to believe...those times must be for an automatic. And even for an automatic it seems slow.

The TSX is definitely not that slow, as Sauceman has proven. 17 second range is just ludicrous, even for an AT.

It looks to me like they are comparing the TSX automatic time to the civic manual time.

I'm refering to the comparison in the origional post of 16.7 vs 16.7.

But I do think the civic EX (Si in Canada) will be very close to the TSX in terms of acceleration.

EDIT: OK I just checked and the 127 HP Civic EX is not nearly as fast as I thought. The 16.7 seconds is actually an EX time, so the TSX is considerably quicker.

This will be interesting. When you going?

And if you do anything higher than 16.9, lets pretend it never happened

Nov 30th... I'd like Clutch to go with cause he's got a CAI in his... and to see if his clutch/shifting skills are really that good

There is no way the TSX is slow as the Civic EX. I have both (MT), so I know.

If clutch loses to TRU, he will have to pull a blackjackman.

About the TSX being as slow as a Civic, I remember racing an EP3 earlier on this summer, and it wasn't even a close match.

No need to worry about the Civic, that is, unless you want it to pass you, then you'll do the last 200ft hard on the brakes.

You're right. But that won't happen, so.....

And you don't really need great clutch/shifting skills to drag race. You just need to do it quickly. Heel-toeing requires REAL skills.

ok ok...i've just traded in my 02 civic EX w/5 speed for my TSX...my civic had few mods, i.e. v-afc, CAI etc. anyways...trust me on this...my auto TSX feels and IS faster then my old civic~ trust me on this...

its a GREAT upgrade!!!! go for it!!

p.s...wait until you drive the TSX on the freeway..this car pulls on the freeway man!

I just remembered that I also had a 2000 Civic Si (US EX) Coupe. I'm fairly certain my AT TSX is quicker off the line but I can't be sure.
