TSX and RL's are destoyed

Posting this again, not sure if everyone else saw scm1121's post (scm1121's post) from yesterday...it was under a title I didn't think would catch too much attention.

scm1121 received this from his dealer.
My dealer faxed me what Acura Northeast Zone sent him sent him it states "Twenty six rail cars have derailed in North Dakota this week. There have been as many as 300 TSXs and RLs damaged. Your dealership has received credits for these vehicles dated 3/16/04. Presently, we do not have any inventory to replace damaged units. We are working with our National Office to replace them as soon as possible and we will let you know when that can be accomplished."
Here is the news article: Acura Train Derailment

OMFG...I hope that my car was not on this. I was supposed to get it this past week and now the dealer is saying that he has not received anymore information about the car and that I should not expect it until April when I was told I would have it March 17th. I have been waiting since Jan. 15th for this already.

SORRY for this post being so long, i just need to vent because I just got off the phone with my dealer and he said he has to get back to me with the status of my car.

Anyone else in the North East waiting for a TSX or RL. My VIN is 26,592. Has anyone else received this letter?

Dude, I feel for ya......

I just got back from another dealer they had one left on the lot. My previous dealer told me 60 to 90 days for the replacement. I said NF way.

I have been in touch with six dealers around here and all of them lost about 3 to 5 TSX's in that derailment. Hope yours was not on the train. Good luck

So what happens to all the damaged cars? Will there be a derailment sale?

Kinda like the "Rainy Day Sale" they had on those 3,000 Volvos, Saabs and BMWs that got a little damp when the car transporter "Tricolor" sank?

Yeah,we need pictures of those mangled TSXs. At least they we're only damaged by the derailment - you can almost never fix a car right after it's been in the water.

Wonder if this means there'll be a surplus of spare salvage parts for the RL and TSX flooding the market?

Might be worth looking into, especially for people who keep wanting to swap the interior to and from Ebony, Quartz and Parchment.

Unfortunately, these South Dakota train derailments has cost me picking up my car.....I "bought" a black/ebony/non-navigation TSX on 3/1. They told me it would be in by the 19th. Too bad they told me on the 18th that a train had derailed and I would need to wait a few more weeks.

Its possible but it'll cost ya.

What happens to all the wrecked cars? Do they try to fix them and sell them as brand new cars?

Shipping damage is not at all uncommon anyway. So the cars with minor damage will probably be fixed. The cars with major damage will probably be junked.

If the car has been under water in the North Sea for several months, though, you can rest assured that they won't be fixed!

i think Honda will destory these derailed TSX/RL, unless damage are only scratch on paint. dealers are more likely to do repair on damage. but i think dealer may also refuse delivery if they know the car was involved in derail incident.
just a thought....
