TSX Resale Value
TSX Resale Value
I was looking at Autotrader and Weekly Car trader magazine they give free at the grocery store and I was surprisingly shocked at how low the resale value of the TSX was, ugh!
I saw a CG 04 TSX 5AT w/Navi, spoiler, OEM bodykit, and fogs for only $22,888 at Grand Mueller's Acura (Arlington Acura)??
Then, I saw another CG 05 TSX 5AT w/Navi and aftermarket rims selling for $25,500 only?
On the other hand, I saw an three 04 TL's with Navi going from a price range of $29,200-$31,200 and the 2003 and 2004 G35 coupe and sedans going for $27,000-$32,000. Why do their resale values still high compared to the TSX?
Does the TSX not hold it's value well???
It makes me wonder if I traded or sold my 04 TSX 5AT w/Navi now it might be only $17-19K, ugh!

Yea, like Psteng19 said, it probably depends on the mileage and condition. Also, keep in mind that people are getting new 06's w/nav for around $28k or even $30k out the door. So $25.5k for last years model seems pretty good dont you think?
It's also partly the changes that have been made to the car each successive year have been pretty pronounced.
2004 to 2005:
Power passenger seat
XM Radio
(That's all that comes to mind)
2005 to 2006
Bluetooth
More power
Faster Navi
Updated styling
Nicer fuel cap (lol I'm serious, it's got a nicer texture this time around and feels a little more substantial)
The TL hasn't changed nearly as much from year to year. Remember that those G35s may start at 32k but comparably optioned out you're looking at 38k, so it's a pretty drastic drop in value as well. Also, the 2005 G35s got improved interiors and the 2006 G35s got dual HIDs, more power, and some nice options like the intelligent key systems, and active rear steer.

Thanks for the input people, well I'm still not sure if to move on yet or not.
I might just keep it still not sure yet. I've noticed a lot of people on here have traded or sold their TSX for the new BMW 325 or 330. I like it too, but not sure in the long run if I kept the 325 for like 6 yrs or so would it be worth it with the expensive maintenance or are the expensive BMW parts exaggerated?
Also, I'm still waiting to see how the new next gen G35 sedan/coupe will look like in April.

As for BMW maintenance consider over 6 years and say 80k given you get 4-50k in maintenance included in the price figure a total of $2,500 to maintain it for those 6 years assuming all of it is at the stealership. The biggest hit will be at about 45k.
when looking some months ago for used tsx's, i thought the resale value was pretty good, therefore i bought a new one. i plan to keep my car for a long time, 7-10 years, so im not too worried about resale value anyways.

In Dec, I got $19.5k on my 2004 5AT TSX w/ 31k miles. I'd say that's pretty damn good if you ask me.
How is that bad resale value? Thats great resale value...in 04 they cost 27 and 29k respectively so in 2.5 years they're still going for 20, 21 and 22k...seems damn good to me. Considering the average for the industry is for a car to loose 46% of its value in three years I'd say the TSX is doing very well.
Well thanks for the help, I'm still contemplating whether it's wise to sell or trade in the TSX. If I'm worried about where I'm parking the TSX now, what more if I had a BMW 3 series or that awesome G35?
Thanks for the next Gen G35 pics!
Does anyone know if they're showing that G35 concept, sedan or coupe at the Chicago Auto show at all?

Back to the main topic, the TSX holds it value fairly well because it's a new model and it's new hot on the market. However, I expect its resale value to go down as other car manufactures introduce/refresh new models.

I'd pass on the current gen G35. Unless you can afford an 06...the early models had questionable interior quality for a car in its price range. It reminds me more of something you'd find on a pontiac or something. Not to mention they rattle like crazy.
Another price point...

I think the TSX has kept it's value pretty well over the years (where buying new doesn't cost that more then used)... Now that the 2004's are going to be 3 years old, they should be getting to the point where the depreciation curve starts to level out (losing less value for each year).

As far as holding the value goes, I just looked up my 05 to get a kbb private party value and it's the same as what I owe now after a year. And I put $6k down on it. Not too happy about that! Thought I would be way above water, but i'm barely afloat. So far it has depreciated at a rate of $1000 per month.

I dont understand how you guys are complaining about resale value when if you go to acura.com there are craploads of TSX's with 30k miles for sale listed at 22,900 to 25,900
Obviously htere's some negotiation room in there but is there really 4 to 6k of negotiation room in their prices?

I would say the TSX holds resale value real good (almost too good). I just got my 2006 ad valorem tax bill for my 2004 TSX (AT w/o Navi). In 2005 the value was 21500. In 2006 the value went down just $100 to 21400. WIth the .5 mill increase in tax my ad valorem tax actually went up just under $3. I was expecting a $50 to $60 decrease based on previous cars I have owned. You can imagine my shock when I opened the envelope and saw the bill.
