TSX projectors with clear lens swap.

These are the pre-06 clear version TSX swapped with a more clear lens.
Thought I'd share because normally you wouldn't swap out the lens.

Did you do a washer mod as well?

no washer mod. washer mods detract from the lighting performance.

this swap is purely lens change. nothing else.

after seeing this pic, i am now relieved that my car is normal because my car's HID projection was not leveled evenly, i thought the lenses were pointing at different heights. but it seems like it's how tsx headlights were built from the factory.

your headlights are aimed lower on the drivers side to reduce glare for oncoming traffic and adjusted higher on the passenger side, for better vision of road signs, etc

actually you need to aim both aligned horizontally to spec like how I've aimmed them. __/---/---

The cutoffs have a shape like ___/---- is used for the purpose of not blinding the oncoming traffic while providing more light on your lane. if you aim the passenger side higher the left side of the passenger beam will blind the oncoming traffic and render the cutoff slope useless.

Thats true, I noticed that on mine too.

They should both be leveled on the TSX, according to the service manual.

Oh...It's hard too tell I suppose, there is plenty of purple other than the blue not captured.

A stock TSX wouldn't have quite as sharp cutoff or as much color (without modding)

This is achieved with just swapping lens and no washers, this way it doesn't compromise any lighting you might have by changing the light path using washers to elevate the bowl.

Still confused, please state clearly what the original and post difference is. You took an 06 TSX lens and swapped it with an 04?

My best guess...

The surface of the 06+ lenses are sort of like Fresnel lenses. So the spherical surface of the projector lens looks like it's made up of a series of concentric rings. Basically diffuses the light, I'd presume. Pre-06 lenses were like perfectly polished spheres.

no no no....

06 models have a Fresnel version which has concentric rings on the lens to diffuse any color and light. to blur out the light sort of.

anything pre-06 already has a clear lens. but the lens is not perfectly clear. it has imperfections and bubbles in it.

I replaced the clear version projector lens with an even more clear version lens, this is the end result.

It's more of a HID-phile thing to do...so feel free to not care.

swap the lens out with a pre-06 model.

Fresnel lenses not only blur the output but also dims it.

You can also get Philips 85122+ bulbs if it doesn't already come with it.

That's actually pretty cool. Was it a lot of work/difficult?

it was not too difficult. I just dremeled out the lens holder so it can accommodate the larger lip on the lens.

Did you have to bake the headlamps to swap out the projectors?

I've taken projectors out of the headlamps without opening up the lamp itself, but it's not easy.

I don't own a TSX myself but I do many retros with TSX projectors.

also it's easier for TSX owners to not care about this kind of stuff because it comes quite colorful stock, something else to take for granted in life.
