TSX Nav Owners who also own a MDX Nav
The Mrs. and I are looking into picking up a used MDX with navigation. Does anyone have experience with the nav system in the 2002 MDX, and how it compares to the nav system in the 2005 TSX? I'd be interested in overall features/integration with the rest of the vehicle, voice activated commands, etc. For example, we looked at some 2004-05 Honda Pilots, and she couldn't stand the toggle switch, and how difficult the process was to look up a business. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The nav system is one of the BIGGEST selling points for my wife; she absolutely loves it in my TSX. We found a MDX Nav at a dealership 2 hours away... we just don't want to take the trip if it's not worthwhile.

My Garage
My co-worker has a 2002 MDX and although I am not very knowledgable about it, I have driven in her car with her and I can tell you that the 05 TSX Nav is better in terms of setup and features.
I wish i could tell you more details, but i just don't remember all the exact differences. i just remember thinking about all the things my nav could that hers couldn't.

I do
I have a 2003 MDX and can say it is like the 03-05 TSX. The 06 has a new format with a few new features but is basically the same.
The problem I have with the MDX Navi is that when you type in a location like "Safeway" it gives you some place on the East coast. Once you figure out how to manipulate it, it works well.

Burning Brakes
My father has a 2004 MDX w/ Nav....I highly recommend it. I love driving his car, when I come over his house. The Nav. is amazing! It never looses a signal and finds address's within feet distances. Besides that the car drive great! I'm looking into getting a new family car because I have one more child coming, and I would love to purchase the MDX but its just out of my price range, so I'm gonna get the Odessey

Thanks for the responses guys... like Gibson said, though... I'm specifically concerned about the 2002 MDX nav system. However, if the 2003 MDX nav system is practically the same (in the same way the 2004 and 2005 TSX nav systems are), then I think the wifey and I will take the trip up...

The biggest difference between the 02 MDX nav and the current TSX nav is the speed. The older Nav takes longer to calculate routes and the map looks choppier as the car moves imo.
I know in the 06 TSX they added more voice commands, Zagat ratings and the ability to speak an address to the computer.
As far as the Pilot goes, my wife has an 06 and the only thing difference from her Nav and mine is the the screen size. (plus the Pilot/MDX have the backup camera)

Well? We found an even better deal than we were originally looking for, and the wife and I picked up our certified, pre-owned 2003 Nighthawk Black Pearl MDX Touring w/ Nav and RES last Saturday. The car was in immaculate condition, and even came with running boards, body side molding, moonroof visor, and CD changer included. Thanks again everybody --- we LOVE this car. Now I can say we're a "true" Honda family with 2 black Ac's in the driveway!
