TSX in the mountains

My wife and I enjoy going to the Oregon coast whenever possible. On the way back from Cannon beach, there is a long uphill run up the mountain. On thing I always liked about my Integra GSR is despite it’s modest output, I am able to easily maintain 80mph all of the way up the mountain, getting past the slow movers. I’m curious how the TSX (sport shift) does in similar situations.

Thanks

this car has enough balls to get up any hill....and you can pick the gear you are in, it doesnt dictate which gear range you have to be in...3rd or 4th gear would fly...

Cannon Beach back to Portland on US-26. Let's just say with my (now sold) 6MT, I can jam it in 3rd and pass just about anyone going up the hills. Especially all those damn 30' trailers and RV's.!

The same cannot be said about my new Jeep Grand Cherokee (4.0L I-6).

Hmm, I'm going the opposite way... getting rid of the Jeep Grand Cherokee (4.0L I-6) in favor of the 6MT TSX. Why did you sell yours? More room needed inside?

After I had the TSX for a year, I got a new job that included a company-provided car. So I decided to save myself $600/mo., sell the TSX, and keep the Jeep.

Now if only you could have had your employer buy your TSX.....

The TSX is maybe the most reliable car I've ever owned... but I'd still prefer to trade it for a window seat on a commuter train with my next job .... I found your "for sale" thread... did you finally sell your car back to the dealer? The Acura dealer?

Yup.
Just so you can gauge depreciation, I bought it in May, 2003 for retail, and sold it in June, 2004 for $21,000 to the dealer. At a standard 5 year payment plan, I owed $21,350 or so.

The rims went to Bender Unit, and they look better on his car than they ever did on mine.
The intake went to Domn, so he now has one of the first ever Injen intakes ever sold.
The SNHOND3 and GLI stayed with the car.
The Helms manual went....to....someone that I forgot. mg775 or someone, I'd have to look.

Basically, everything but my car went to Canada.

Now that I have a company funded "everyday" vehicle, I'm looking for a cheap "fun" car. Unfortunately, the ones I want are too expensive. Thus my "What do you think of a Mazda Miata" thread. Either that, or next spring I'm taking a Motorcycle Safety Course and look into that.

Thanks for the information about current trade-in values! I've had one-too many near-death experiences on the Interstate and I'd prefer to commute by train for my next gig. At least with the Volvo I won't worry about door-dings and I'll be pretty sure it will still be in the RR station parking lot when I get back!

Using the "declining balance" method, with the same assumptions, (1/10 x 2) x ($24,961)= $4992 first year depreciation. Or $19,968.

I'd guess the first estimate is closest to reality.
So I said $21,322, your dealer said $21,000. Nice to know the time spent getting that MBA wasn't completely wasted!

Well, it WAS wasted, but that's really, really OT!

Since we're on the subject...how IS going up hill with four or five people? I mean is it really slow? I've never owned a V6 so I can't compare, but I was in an Accord V6, they went up the hills pretty quick! I'm asking because I go to the bay area a lot, especially San Francisco so I just want to know how it will do with four or five people inside the TSX. Is it slow? I'm asking about the auto by the way.
