congrats on the TSX- you made the right decision. The TSX is more nimble and has better driving dynamics than the IS250 even if it is FWD.

I absolutely love the car. There are little things I need to get used to like hitting the info button every time I start my car to get the display in the MID to come on and having to hit the A/C button to be able to control my HVAC if I do not want it in Auto. I'm sure I'll get used to those sort of things, tho.

As far as exterior design is concerned, I think the A-Spec equipped TSX (extra 1k)is more comparable to the IS250's price range. With that said, I think the TSX looks better than the IS. If I had to chose between TSX and IS250, I would pick the TSX hands down. Now, the new TL-S or G35 sedan would be a debate between my head and my heart.

I just sold my scion tc, and am also looking to get one of these cars, either the is250 or the tsx, i am leaning towards the tsx, because it is bigger inside, and has just about the same options, and is cheaper, every dealer i go to i cant find an is250 for any lower than 38k or 39k, i can get the tsx for 27k with navi
IMO the tsx handles better

The IS is hot, but the interior has no space for anyone other than the driver. If you aren't in a rush, wait for the new C and see if the star can win you over!
I'm going to drive it next weekend all the same.
what you think?

During my test drive, I also tested the brakes. They were awesome, stopped very well.
The thing both my wife and I like about the new C-class is the interior design. It looks way better, more modern than the previous model.
Anyway, I hope the dealer calls me when they have a C-300 Sport with 6MT, so I can re-evaluate the car. I'm just doing some research on my next car to replace the A4.

IS has a more upscale feel and a softer ride. Those are its advantages IMO.

I'm looking to upgrade my Scion tC this summer. My next car will have leather, A/T, four doors, navi, and bluetooth. I've pretty much narrowed my search to the TSX and the IS250 (assuming I don't like the 2008 Accord sedan which won't be out until at least July, maybe August).
I've contacted 4 dealerships for each vehicle in my area and have negotiated the prices already. The TSX is sold at invoice and the IS is basically $700 above invoice.
Here are the pros and cons for each:
TSX - negotiated price: $28,440 + $245 dealer fees
PROS
- $5000 cheaper
- 205hp 4-cylinder
- Great bang-for-the-buck (value)
- Center console slides forward to adjust to driver's liking
- One of the best navi units available
CONS
- Steering wheel is too cluttered
- "Dated" styling (but still looks nice)
- Ride is not as plush as the Lexus
IS250 RWD - negotiated price: $34,580 + 98 dealer fees
PROS
- Great exterior styling
- All Auto windows and sunroof
- 13 speaker audio system
- 204hp 6-cylinder
- Great Lexus interior finish feels better than the Acura
- Heated AND COOLED seats (I like the cooled, g/f likes the heated)
- Back-up camera
CONS
- $5000 more for basically the same equipment
- RWD must be special ordered (DC-area has only base RWDs because they order almost exclusively AWD models)
- AWD adds $3000 more!
- Poor visibility out the back (hence the back-up camera)
- Almost useless back seat with no 60/40 split (only a pass-through)
- Weird angled location where the window switches are located
- I HATE the wooden interior which seems to come with every car on the lot (hence the special order with metallic interior)
Overall, the Lexus feels like more of a luxury vehicle while the TSX feels more like a sporty vehicle. I don't use my back seat all that often, but I'd like to be able to keep my seat in one location if someone tries to sit behind me. Also, I snowboard during the winter so I need the folding seats. I'm not sure my snowboard fits through the pass-through.
If price were no object, the Lexus would win hands-down. What do you guys think I should do?

How can people say a style is dated in an objective sense? Is that remark as arbitrary as it sounds? I realize this body style has been around for five plus years but around here I barely ever see a TSX. It doesn't come close to causing the visual fatigue I get from almost any other recent model. I suppose I associate dated with something I'm tired of looking at, not necessseraly the year it came out.

i think you should just flip a coin and decide. i mean, tsx and IS are both excellent cars. i don't think you will regret with any one of the two. but imo, TSX will change soon because it came out in 2004 and its design has not changed much since then. on the other hand, IS will not change for some time.
my point is, if you look at the resale value, the 5k might not be a huge deal assuming you will sell the IS in time before the new model.

My sister has an 07 IS250 AWD and I drive an 08 TSX
I like her car a lot.
It "feels" smaller. I say feels, becuase i cant confirm weather it really is smaller or not inside.
IS AWD doesnt have Signaling on the mirrors, memory seats or HIDs, hers doesnt anyway.
The TSX is a 4 year old design but it sure as hell doesnt feel like it or look like it. the interior has aged well and still looks top notch, as does the exterior. For the amount I paid (500 over invoice) I dont think the TSX can be beat in terms of VALUE.

Just to start off, I don't think you are comparing the right cars. You should be comparing 250 RWD and TSX, not AWD. then price difference won't be 5k, but only 2k.

As for the interior volume, here are the numbers:
Exterior............... IS 250 ................ TSX
Length ...............180.1 in. .......... 183.5 in.
Width ................. 70.9 in. ............. 69.4 in.
Height ............... 56.1 in. ............ 57.3 in.
Weight ............... 3435 lbs. ......... 3345 lbs.
Wheel Base ........107.5 in. .......... 105.1 in.
Ground Clearance . 5.7 in. ............. 4.3 in.
Interior
Front Headroom .. 37.2 in. ............ 37.8 in.
Rear Headroom .. 36.7 in. ............ 37.3 in.
Front Shoulder Room 54.4 in. ........ 55.4 in.
Rear Shoulder Room 52.7 in. ........ 53.5 in.
Front Hip Room ....... 54.1 in. ........ 54.4 in.
Rear Hip Room ....... 53.7 in. ........ 54.4 in.
Front Leg Room ...... 43.9 in. ........ 42.4 in.
Rear Leg Room ...... 30.6 in. ........ 34.2 in.
Trunk Capacity ....... 13 cu.ft. ....... 13.2 cu.ft.
Yes, the TSX is a bit bigger on the inside, especially when it comes to rear leg room. You'd think the extra 2.4 inches in wheelbase would allow the IS to have better leg room in the rear. Guess not.

That's why I bought my TSX, I didn't feel like the Lexus was worth that much more. TSX is def. the better value.

Plus, a car at the end of its current generational cycle will be the most perfected of its generation. I understand a new design is exciting, I'd think so too, but there are benefits to buying near the end of the cycle too (also usually lots of incentives)
