TSX dealer MP3 player?
Does anyone here have the dealer installed optional MP3 player for the TSX? I'd like to hear what you think about it and how well it works. Does it handle large numbers of files and foldsr well? I presume it reads CDs.. the web site has surprisingly little information about it!

I don't have it (yet) but I'm thinking about it. It reads .mp3 and .wma files from CD, so if you're storing in .mp3 format, you can fit 100-150 songs per disc. However, I don't think the system reads .id3 tags, so even with the nice navi screen in my car, I won't have any information other than Track Number.

-It only plays one CD worth of MP3's ( basicaly around 120-140 songs)
-It doesn't display any song title information on the screen.
-It gets intalled in the cubby under the radio/nav unit and so takes up valuable storage space
-And for the price you have to pay you could get a 20gig IPod hooked up to your system.

Are there any ipod hookups that will let me control it with the steering wheel controls and show info on the navi screen? I have an MP3CD player in my current car and I'd hate to go back to regular CDs, even a 6 CD changer. 128kbit/s MP3 is literally 10 times the music density per disc than regular CDs.

I completely understand Search Nazism, after having dealt with it from a user and admin perspective on other sites. I did try searching for this one first but didn't find the thread you turned up. Thanks a lot for the info.

One thing is that I was eyeing that bay to maybe some day put some ham radio gear in it ... but I think i'll get the acura mp3 player anyway, and then when a good ipod interface comes out that works with steering wheel controls and the navi, i can take it out and use that instead.
I agree with something that was said in the linked thread - I'd LOVE a MP3CD player that read DVDs also, or hell, even a 6-disc mp3cd changer.
It's really funny that people think a 6-disc CD changer somehow holds more music than a single-disc MP3 player. There are quality issues, I understand, but if you use a good encoder and VBR, the issues are very small.
