One company is coming out with one that plugs into your 12v port and uses an FM transmitter to allow you to use your car's speakers.

There are actually really good aftermarket systems out. Motorola and Parrot both make good aftermarket bluetooth systems. Some of them even have little LCD displays showing call info. Install is actually not too difficult depending on how much experience you have. I was able to install my bluetooth kit fairly easily and there are other forum members who have done so too. Check the a/v section of the forum for more info.

Make a hole, coming thru!
More and more studies are confirming that any kind of phone conversation while driving (hands-free and otherwise) increases your chance of an accident 400%. They say impaired reaction time is similar to a 70 year old (prejudicial comparison) or someone with a BAC of 0.08% (more realistic). Hearing that, you might consider just getting a good Jabra or Motorola BT headset, and pull over to chat. Just my 2¢.

since i was an industrial engineering major at Penn State, one of our senior projects in human factors class was to study the effects of what happens to the human brain while being distracted. i.e. a line worker talking while working on an intensive task, etc. we had to study how each of the different senses reacts to distractions.
it was overwhelmingly found that the physical act of holding the phone up to your ear is what distracts your brain and poses the risk of distraction causing an accident. the human brain can handle a normal conversation with no problem at all. but because your hand is physically holding the phone/object up to your ear, you had a much higher chance of accident being distracted. having a conversation with both hands on the wheel has literally a 0% chance of distracting you. did you ever have a conversation with a passenger in your car? i have, and never had a problem while driving. its the same thing as having a conversation with the bluetooth system in your car.
i get so angry when driving in SoCal because EVERYONE has the phone up to their ear on the freeway. while i use my headset 100% of the time. just some food for thought next time. so adding bluetooth is the safest thing to do. i dont have the luxury of being able to pull over for a call when i'm stuck on the freeway in traffic or i'm driving home from work.

yeah people have been having conversations with passengers for 40+ years at least. but NOW its suddenly a problem? like i said, holding the phone up to your ear is what incapacitates your physical driving skills and also your mental alertness and reaction time. talking into thin air does nothing. how about singing? so i cant sing along to songs anymore? even heavy thinking is worse. ever drive down the highway deep in thought and then not remember the last 10 minutes of driving because you were thinking of something else?
anyway, i look forward to installing this bluetooth. but i realized that replacing the instrument cluster resets my odometer. i dont think i wanna do that. so i might just live without it.
