Transfering Cars from Other Dealers
Two dumb questions.
One. Some of the dealers in my area don't have online inventories. Is there anyway to be certain that a dealer isn't BS'ing you if they claim no other regional dealers have a combo you're interested in? Is there an "official" national/regional inventory system they should be looking in?
Two. Does a dealer incur any legitimate costs to get a car for you from another dealer in the same metro area?

Possible dumb answers:
Dealers don't ask for transfering fee (at least from my experience). And they normally do regional trade. There is another type of trade, forgot that official term... Basically, they make trade before the next available shippment comes to shore. They trade electronically and pick up the trade along with the rest of orders. However, honest dealers tell you that they prefer you to select from their lot or order, cuz afterall they are trading/negotiating for such a popular car. Sometimes, other side will refuse to trade. Well, this is what I was told.
There is an official inventory system, at Acura... You can knock off the sales and log on his computer. And plz check my order too...
One more thing about transfering, ask the mileage on the car and how they gonna transport it. Sounds like a dumb question, but you dont wanna end up in a semi-demo. Cuz when they polish the car, you can't tell a thing.

There is no cost to a dealer to "trade" with another dealer,
But sometimes the dealer you are working with has to give up a better equipped car to get yours ( i.e. they give away a TSX w/ navi for one w/o navi to get your specific color, etc.)
I have also been told the dealer loses the holdback on the vehicle involved in the trade.
