Trans Fluid Level After Service
I serviced a 2008 TSX's auto transmission today. I allowed the fluid to drain for about 30 minutes and refilled with 3 qt of ATF DW-1.
After idling for a several minutes and checking the fluid level within a min after shutdown, the fluid was at the lower dot.
I understand that you are supposed to drive until the car is at normal operating temp, so I took it for a hard drive around the block (around a mile), and came back to recheck the fluid level. At this time, the fluid level is now a hair below the min dot.
So, I'm pretty sure that I need to add a bit more fluid. However, I have two questions that you guys may be familiar with.
1) How much does the fluid expand, once it is hot? IIRC on a 2G Fit I serviced, I would add 3 qt and the level would be 2/3 of the way when cold, but would rise to the full dot after a long drive.
2) How much fluid do you have to add to get from the lower mark to the top mark? I remember on my previous car, it was 1/2 qt. Is this also true for this transmission?
Thanks.
