Trade in 2006 non-nav for 2007 with Nav?

I have a 2006 TSX w/o nav...recently i hit a little wall n theres a small dent on my back drivers side door and paint was scraped off. My mom n i both regret not getting the nav. The dealer gave me a new car with small damage on it (trunk dent and small rust spot, never fixed). So i was thinking about trading my car which is a CG with 2000 miles on it. How much do you think i will get for it and how much would i end up paying to get the 2007 (difference). We bought the car with cash so it is all paid for. I got the car like 3 and a half months ago. Also forgot 2 mention....my bro curbed the right back rim not very noticeable and he also scratched the right corner which also inst very noticeable till you are close to it.

Keep the 2006 and wait until you and your brother become more experienced drivers so that when you get a new car, it will stay looking new....... longer.

If you have money to burn, go for it. Regardless of whether or not you've paid for the car, it's a bad financial decision. I'm always amazed at the stuff I read on this board. Trading in a car with 2000 miles on it to get nav? Jeez...

Well i really dont have that much to burn because i worked my ass off in the begining to get it so this i would be asking for my birthday. Also i really want the TPMS because last week i had a nail in my tire which caused a slow leak so i want to be safe. I hear that the headlights might be new and have Auto on/off. Does anyone else know for sure what else is new?

isn't there going to be major updates for the 2008 model? If so then I would wait another year for that instead.

Its a bad financial decision imo. Also dont trade in a car because u regret getting navi and a few dents. What if you trade in ur car and get a 07 with navi. Then in 08 the tsx goes on a drastic change and you regret not waiting a few years to trade in your car... will you trade it in again? I suggest you wait and what Boxedup said is somewhat true... learn from your mistakes/ gain experience before moving on and investing more money. If you really want a navi there are alot of aftermarket navi systems.. Just giving you my opinion on how i see this situation.

Also relax... just because someone posted a reply that may have hurt your feelings a little bit dont go commenting back about how they are "stupid". Its a internet forum.. just take everythign with a grain of salt.... everybody will voice their opinion even if you agree or disagree with it.

Its going to cost quite a bit for the upgrade you describe. Depreciation alone will be a couple of grand at least (as soon as you drove it off the lot and it became a used car). On top of that you have some cosmetic damage which will lower the value even further. Then, you are looking at a brand new model year that will just be released so the dealers won't be as willing to negotiate. Lastly, the navi version will cost roughly $2K more than the non-navi version so tack that on as well. I can easily see this being a $6K-$7K proposition.

Taking the depreciation hit...

What's good, JesusWalks?

Well, I was in your shoes (well sorta) earlier this month. I traded an '05 Accord EX 4cyl with 11,000 miles for an '06 TSX Auto w/Navi. Why? Because the TSX is hooootttttt and I wanted the NAVI! From my experience, I can give you this much advice ... take the TSX to Carmax on NW12th St and get them to value it (for free) ... they will give you a pretty good offer and will even buy your car. I had them value my Accord and they offered me $17k ... during negotiations for the TSX, the dealer offered me $14.5k for it. After I showed the Carmax offer to them, they instantly matched it. If that is possible, that is the best way to go because then you only have to pay taxes on the difference between the new TSX and your trade-in. Either way, prepare to lose a couple G's.

Further more, dude ... if you can grab an '06, do it! You will get pretty decent discounts. I picked mine up for $28.5k ... same price as the non-navi! As for the TPMS, we have an '06 MDX with it and it is full of sh!t. Whenever the temp falls a little (lets say to 70 degrees) it goes bezerk and randomly pickes tires that are 'under-inflated' ... been to the dealer about it and they sit there and say "sorry ... it's the weather!"

In a private party sale, with the damage you described, I'd bet you can possibly get $24K... maybe (you could get a new one for not much more).... a trade in will be much worse. The 07 with Nav will be going for $29+K (at least in my market). So that is at least $5K plus the sales tax hit (twice in one year!) of another ~$1,800 in my area plus title etc... so yeah, around $7K optimistically. Not a very wise financial decision. What else could you do with $7K? How long does it take you to save $7k??? You can buy a Garmin Nuvi with bluetooth for ~$600 and a tire gauge for $5 and send the other $6,395K to me, I'll keep it safe for you.

Not a good financial decision bro. Keep the car, regrets will always pass by you. So let's say you get the 07, and then the 08 is completely redesigned and has more features. I hope I don't see another thread like this next year.

Just drive the 06, and be happy with it. Even I talked my brother out of trading in his 1 year old S40 for a newer S40 or a C70. Make the right decisions. You'll be happy that you do. But then hey, if you got the money, then go for it.

It's a horrible financial decision. The car's value is depreciated. You should consider it when your car is at least 2 years ago so that you get your money's worth. Otherwise, you've just helped the next potential buyer of your vehicle by taking the depreciation hit for him while giving him a low mileage vehicle.

I got my 06 with the half-thought that I'd possibly trade it in for the 08. Honda's & Acura's usually have major design changes between generations, and the next generation TSX is earmarked for either 2008 or 2009 (honda generations used to be every 4 years, but I think they might have extended it to a 5-year period).

Not exactly sure what's planned for the next generation, but some possibilities are a turbo'd engine (from the RDX I believe) and an all-wheel drive (I think that's what the SH-AWD thing is).

Don't trade it in just because of a few dents and the navi system. Just get a portable aftermarket navi system that you can move between cars...that should be a better choice for you (although I don't use the navi for finding locations...I use all the other features like calculator, calendar, phonebook, etc.)

The 2007 isn't that spectacular...there's no major changes. You'll basically be getting your 06 back. As mentioned above, the tire pressure system can be annoying if the temperature changes alot in your area...(then again, we're supposed to check it once a month and during season changes anyway)

I saw so many posts with regrets about not getting the navi that I made sure I got it. It's really nice and I'm glad I have it, but I could have gotten around without it (my palm and cell phone can probably do the same job, albeit slower)

Don't switch.....just get an aftermarket navi. Search for pioneer i think its the n3. Its a flip out unit that someone installed in the compartment below the dials. Aside from the 7" screen (2" smaller than stock), it has capability for XM traffic, rear camera, and alot more features. Just search for it.

Def better just to get that unit installed.... it will prob be around 2gs installed. Im not really sure, but I do know it has much more functionaly than the stock unit. You would have more functions and options for less than the switch.
