TL "A-Spec" at my dealer!

I just saw a TL "A-Spec" at one of the local dealers. The A-Spec package was around $5,995 and then there were a few other goodies on the list. It was priced at $39,???. Anthracite exterior with gray interior/black dash. The drivers seat didn't look brand new, so I was wondering if this car had been through an Auto Show or something? The wheels are the 1st thing you notice, the color matches the exterior paint exacty, unlike the Silver Star Rims on the TSX which are not the same color as the Carbon Gray. It was a damn nice looking ride!

I was taking one last look at the TSX's with my sister. She cannot decide on the Carbon or the Silver. She likes the carbon color better, but likes how the silver finish on the wheels looks with the silver paint. I am sure she is not the 1st one to struggle with this decision. I think the car has a little more charactor in Carbon, but I kept my opinion to myself, I am just there to negotiate the deal. They have 9 on the lot right now with 2 carbons, 2 blacks and 2 silvers, 2 white and 1 Meteor Silver. We are going to ask for $1,500 off MSRP, wish us luck!

bend the dealer over! Personally I love the look of the silver wheels when my CG is clean and shining.

With that many on the lot, you should be able to get $1500 off. I hope I can do the same in a few weeks. Only a few at my local dealer, and they don't have the color I want.

If she she wants the wheels to match she could get the optional ones. Don't know if she's willing to spend that though.

That's the problem, I've seen the Silver Star rims on the Carbon color and it does not match up. It looks like you tried to match and missed. I was 100% sold on this color combo and wheel package until I saw it in person. No offence to anyone who has it, they are still the best looking rims BY FAR, I just wish they were color matched to the carbon paint like the TL A-Spec rims were that I saw today!

Both colors look great, BD. Silver hides dirt and dings better than any color and always looks good but CG is more up-to-the-minute and looks super. The A-spec is an enormous rip-off, IHMO. All show and no go.

I agree, some good looking cosmetic upgrades, but not worth the extra $6,000!

Yeah the wheels are a little off but pretty close.

One thing to think about is if the car every needs a repaint silver is pretty hard to match. My g/f needed a new bumper on her car and it's a little off. Fortunately she doesn't notice it so its not a big deal

I wonder who actually BUYS them? For $39xxx?

For $31xxx the TL represents a pretty good value, but at the $39xxx level, I'd just go the few extra $$ and buy a 330i w. the Performance Package. In a heartbeat.

I think people just get caught up in the excitement at the dealership. You see the regualr TL and it is a VERY nice car at 31k and then you see this one sitting next to it with stuff that not too many other people are going to have and you start justifying things in your head and next thing you know, you are driving it home... When you see the 2 side by side, it does stand out, especially because of the rims and body kit, but if they were not right next to each other, *9 out of 10 people wouldn't even know the difference.

*If you are on this board, you are the 10th person...

Yep, I'd jump ship too.

Buff-Daddy, I saw a TL with A-Spec in one Acura dealer site - they were asking for $41,000!!!!!!! WOW! That's ridiculous!!!

As to your sister's TSX choice, I personally would go with the Carbon Grey, but the silver is nice too. To me, the CG looks a bit more unusual and sportier than the Silver. The chrome trim around the windows and the front grill also stands out more beautifully with the CG. Has she seen the Meteor Silver Metallic yet? That is a gorgeous and unusual color. Anyway, I still love my Nighthawk Black the best :-)

Agreed - what are they thinking?

I think the two best colors on the TSX are CG and NHB (of course ). CG is the only color I've seen and thought that I should have gotten.

Back to color choices... some years ago (in the days waaaay before the internet, in fact in ANCIENT TIMES, in the Mercedes W114-115 or W123 era!) Mercedes did an extensive study of car colors vs. visibility.

Most visible were combinations like a white body and orange or green doors, hood and deck lid. Of solid colors the most visible under most conditions was white. Except, of course, in a snowstorm.

While I think the only PROPER color for a German car is silver-gray, white is a lot easier for a soccer mom who's yelling at her kids at the same time as talking on a cell phone and eating a Big Mac to see. Black may be attractive and slinky and stealthy but I'd like to at least appear in the Ford Excursion pilot's unconscious mind.

That reminds me of the Idaho state trooper's mustangs back in the day. Black and orange.

Color choice for me goes beyond what is just asthetically pleasing. (Although I do like the looks of the CG and NHB best on the TSX.)

Although avoiding or drawing attention to the screaming soccer moms on cell phones may be safer, I choose to use my own visual skills to avoid them b/c the brighter colors just seem to attract the troopers also. I am almost certain that I can go much faster in the darker colors than the folks in the bright colors without getting the same tickets. There's probably some insurance guy's stats on this.

Make's sense, the bull charges the reds not the blacks. It's probably some instinct within us. I'd like to know more on this...
