Tint and NAV system

I know this topic has been covered...but I haven't been able to find anyone who has pinpointed/solved the problem. My navigation sytem is no longer reliable..it actually hardley works. The dealer said that it was because my tint was too dark (5%)...yet they said that they have put 5% on cars with no problems. Does anyone know for sure exactly what type/shade of tint causes the Navi to malfunction...or is it another problem all together?

You must be using metallic tint. It's suggested that if you have a NAV you should be using non-metallic. I know 3M makes a non-metallic one which does costs a little more than the regular stuff. Llumar, the other big competitor, makes a great tint too but I believe it's metallic as well and not suggested for your NAV. So I don't think it matters what percentage of tint you choose. Good luck!

I t is my understanding that any tint with a metallic component, regardless of the shade or percentage, will cause a problem with the Nav system. The GPS sensor is in the back deck and must read through the back window.

BTW, 5% is way too dark

It's not his fault his dealer says stupid shit. If he believed him it'd be different but he pointed out that they put 5% on another car without problem. So he doesn't seem to.

Thanks...yeah i'm a newb to the tinting thing and made a bad decision. I agree that it is way to dark. But it looks like I may have to replace it to get the nav working again. Thanks for your help guys.
