Time to delivery after build-date?
All,
I have a question about the time it takes to get a TSX delivered to the East Coast after it's listed build date. We have an Arctic Blue/MT6/Navi on order. The build date is between 10/16 and 10/24. Actually, that's a *bit* if a supposition as the car "ahead" of ours is scheduled for 10/16 and the car "after" ours on the list is scheduled for 10/24, so I'm assuming ours is going to be in between them somewhere.
So my question is how long does it take, realistically, to get the car from the factory in Japan to the East Coast? Our dealer (who, unfortunately, has not been remarkably accurate in the past), said that we can expect the car in 6 weeks. That would suggest that transit time is on the order of 4 weeks. Is that realistic?
Thanks in advance for any insight anyone might be able to offer...

4 weeks sounds about right. Mine was built on 4/17 and I had it on 5/22.
But....Acura doesn't control the route the train takes across the country, so if it's delayed or takes the scenic route, it takes longer. Your dealer should know when it clears customs and can provide rough ideas of where your car is.
Good luck!

Great!
Thanks. I realize that stuff like the train (or customs!) could delay things. But since the dealer was, uh, overoptimistic about getting his hands on a car in the area for us, I just wanted a reality check to make sure he wasn't blowing smoke on his delivery estimate this time.

Mine was built on 8/7, and it got here (NC) on 9/15. The dealership had originally been saying it would arrive on 9/4, but I thought that was overly optimistic given the build date. So, I'd say hope for the 4 week time, but plan on the 6 week time.
