They can't keep our TSX on the lot
I just came across an article detailing the average length of time that various cars sit on the dealer's lot and guess what car made an appearance for having a very short time? Of course we all knew it already but the TSX came in with an average of only 24 days on the dealer's lot which ranked it 22nd. The top 3 were the Lexus IS, Toyota Prius, and Scion tC w/ 10, 10, and 11 days on the lot respectively.
Anyway, just thought I'd share. I don't feel so bad about waiting so long for my car now. I'm supposed to get it this Monday 3/13! I can't wait.
On the lot: What's hot, what's not!

Wow... interesting. So the TSX does sell well... BUT doesn't sell as well as the dealers make it out to be. Aroudn here, they make it seem as if they dont care if we walk away since their TSX's sell so well.

lol...my dealer had like only 5 tsx's on the lot, my sales rep showed me the order shipment form and there was 25 txs's coming, all with reserved names on them...including mine at the time!

Toyota and Lexus cater to the widest audience possible, and are engineered for the lowest common denominator. Even so, I am baffled to see Corolla on the list.

The guy and general manager at the dealership that I bought my TSX at told me that for every 14 Honda Accords that are sold 1 Acura TSX is sold. Could be true for all I know. I do know I had to wait an extra day to get my TSX from Concord Acura like 20 miles away so they put me up in a MDX for the night.

Hotter in pure volume, maybe, but the TSX is made in fewer numbers. So there are less to sit around on the lot...
Mine sat on the lot for about a week and a half. I was there when she first arrived, still bundled up from the transport.

WTF is Buick doing up there? Since when is Buick a hot seller? And what's a Dodge Sprinter? I've actually never heard of that car before.
So do they count cars that are sold BEFORE they get to the lot? Cause that would explain why Lexus (and Scion I think) are up there cause there's like a waiting list for those cars.

I don't know how accurate that article is but the TSX is NOT a hot seller. I visited 10 Acura dealership here in Northern CA and each dealership had at least 15 TSX on the lot. My friend down in southern CA saw the samething and we all know CA is the state that sets the trend for automobiles. Plenty of people on this board including myself have bought the 06 tsx below invoice. If it doesn't fly off the lot in CA, it doesn't fly off the lot in any other state.

That's not a good indication of how popular a car is. If they only have 1 car on the lot at a time (extreme exageration), of course it's not going to stay very long.

Among my three color choices, none that weren't already taken could be found within any reasonable radius, or even en route from Japan...so I'm currently in the middle of a 3 month wait for my 06 CGP 6MT NAV to be built especially for little ol' me ! I doubt there are too many other cars on the market that regularly spend ZERO days on the lot the way many TSX's do.

Had to be specially shipped from Japan, or so they say.
Incidentally, it's also due to arrive 3/20!

I'm picking mine up on the 20th. So...what is the below invoice price that I should be shooting for when it comes time to negotiate?
Also.....the dealer I'm going to has about 14 TSX's on the lot...and the one in Sacramento has about 20.

did you need invoices?
2006
Non-nav: $25,436 invoice +$615 dest.
Nav : $27,257 invoice +$615 dest.
How did you track the inventories for various dealers in CA? just use online dealer sites? I found that some dealers don't list inventories.
I'd travel to Sac to save $1k, or even SoCal for $1k+ savings.

Hard to describe. Think of a small FedEx truck, and you'll probably realize that you've seen one.
