Arrow Test Drove Audi S4 Last Night - WOW!

My cousin and I went and test drove an Audi S4 last night and I can honestly say that even though I am a BMW guy, I would buy one of those over an M3 in a heartbeat.

V8, Quattro, 4-Doors and excellent fit-n-finish really won me over. That was the most fun I have ever had on a test drive. My cousins wife knows one of the sales ladies there now, so they let us take it out alone and we had to sit in a random parking lot for the last 10 minutes because the car smelled like burning tires. Once we aired it out and brought it back, they told us to drive it around back because it just sold in a dealer trade. What that guy doesn't know won't hurt him...

Amazing car, no doubt about it...

They are amazing. I actually like the S4 Avant (or whatever the S4 wagon is called) better for some reason. So is your cousin seriously considering it or was this just a joyride?

He still has 5 months left on his current lease, but I think Audi scored some serious points with both of us for when the time comes.
Funny thing was that we were side by side with a new 5 Series at a stoplight and I know the guy was looking at this car and 2nd guessing his purchase. I have tried to like the new 5, but I don;t think it is going to happen...

FYI - The Audi A4 1.8T with Quattro and Ultra Sports Package looks EXACTLY like the S4 with better looking rims (IMO). You get all the show without the go. However, it's $36,000 instead of $53,000

Never drove one so maybe I'm talking out of my ass. But I think I'd rather have a M3. For Ext styling for sure anyway.

I have driven the previous generation S4 and really liked it but the problem with the new one being a V8 is that it eats gas like its going out of style.

My opinion is biased because I have a family now and live in Minnesota. 4-Doors and All-Wheel-Drive is going to be much more realistic/appealing/practical to me than a 2 doors and RWD. The V8 adds a little more power to move that extra weight around. Snow and sports cars don't mix well, this car brings it within reach and looks much better than the G35x IMO. However, the G35x is only $36,000. The decisions never end, but I have plenty of time to think about it...

You just have to make your 2nd car a Toyota Prius to even it out.

The Avant is probablly more aerodynamical, and maybe has a better weight distribution than the sedan. It is said the V8 weighs pretty heavy on the front end. But I wouldn't venture to say more than what I have heard since I didn't try it, though I sure would love it.

How much is a new 545i? 325HP, 330lf-ft. I know their not direct competitors, but what you give in up in pure performnce with the 545 you more than make up in other areas. And more space for your family, B-D.

Just something about Audi that does'nt sit well with me.

EDIT:545i 6 Speed MSRP = $58,300. Well worth it over the S4 IMO.

$77,000 CAD

I can't afford either.

But yes, high powered good balanced cars are really a thrill to drive.

My buddy had one for almost 5 months now, and I would say, the car is really nice. Fuel mileage is terrible if you drive hard (or not). Anyways, the car handle beautifully. We've brought it down to autocross a couple of times and it's doing okay. My bud still trying to get a hang of it. Sweet engine sound!!!

The 545 and M5 performance are going to be fantastic, but I cannot get over the looks. If I didn't care about looks, I would be in a Subaru WRX right now...
