Arrow Subtle change to my door courtesy lights

Pics with Blue 9led bulb from TecToys from eBay:

+

Wanted to try something new, in white (look blueish in pics).

Pics of my 10 LED white door lights:

What do you think?

If someone could tell how to take the tails apart i could start on my tailight retro fit.

the white ones look great, in my opinion. i like the full coverage, where as mine are a really bright circle that kind kind of just light up the outside area of the plastic cover.

Hehe, well if i work on them straight shouldnt take me more than a couple of hours. Only thing is i used my old tectoys bulb and cut it so i could use the connector (i did have to re-pass the wire through the holes and bend it again but the plastic moulding is great) i suppose i could create my own connector.

As far as making them for other people, i wouldnt mind but not just yet, however i don't mind helping people out if they want to do this on there own, its quite simple.

it would be GREAT if you could make up a DIY thread, and take pictures along the way of every step, with a materials/tools list, etc. that would help out a lot of people, i would imagine. if you didn't mind, that is... any soldering required?

Sure i will give it a shot. Yes Soldering is required but don't worry its not difficult at all. Beauty of this is that it is plug ad play (if you use the old bulb that is)

Thanks, im guessing no interest. I never really noticed how much space is behind that cover. I could even fit more leds in that space.

I have a similar one with 6 LED, and I found that it's very bright already, no need for more LED. However, yours 10 LED looks nice. Try to take a picture @ night.

Once again i must note, since these are individual LEDS in reality you will see 10 individual lights. On all pics its comes out as solid, nonetheless i like it better than one light in the center.

Hi guys! im back from a little hiatus! Since having dones the whites ones above i made another set but in blue, which look much better!

A quick question/poll.

If i were to make these for members here who would be interested? (obviously i wouldnt sell anything without mod approval).
As far as price i am not sure i will have to calculate my costs and time to make these, but they will not be pricey at all. Mind you, you would be getting 2 "bulbs" which contains 10 Superflux leds each (I only have Superfluxes in Blue, Red, and Amber) I have white in regular 5mm leds.

I'd be down. I have an Indigo Blue model and some blue LED's in the door might look kinda spiffy. It would be interesting to see how the blue LED plays off the purple in the paint.

Like ruffellprefley said though, it's all about the benjamins. If you are willing to try and figure out a ballpark figure for the whole kit n kaboodle, parts, assembly, shipping, I'm interested.

Mayhap we can do business.

Hehe Thanks for changing that

What would you guys be willing to pay for something like this? Mind you this is not a TecToys bulbs which is mass produced, these will be made by hand by me and probably wont look all pretty and nice but once behind the plastic lense they look great, i have gotten a lot of compliment on them.

Once i get everything going again i will let you all know.

Couple of side LED projects/ideas im working on:

LED Taillight Retro (https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38299)
Trunk LED Conversion (inside of the trunk, my intention is to place multiple to illuminate entire trunk)
Footwell Ambient LED Lighting

Rough Estimate would be 30$ + Shipping for the lights. These are pretty small and could be shipped lettermail so shipping should be cheap.

Price includes materials and time involved to make them since i am making them myself.

I could also make custom ones, for example if you wanted more than 10 leds (5 on top 5 on bottom) i could potentially fit 20 LEDS but it would be extremely bright.

I can make them in the following colours: RED, BLUE, WHITE, AMBER and if really wanted, UV.

I could tan my ankles while driving?! That would be awesome, goodbye sock tan line forever!

I think 30+ shipping is a great deal MTLer, considering the effort you put in, and it's unique as well. I'd be willing for sure.

Not only could you Tan your ankles but it could also come in handy when making shady cash deals to verify if the money is legit

I will be going ahead with this, perhaps a couple to begin with and then see where it goes. Just checking with Azine to see if its ok.

What Color would you be wanting?

Autolumination has this for $15

This is for $25 (brighter)

I think if we have enough request, they can make one to fit our door. If not, someone can try to buy one of these lights and see if we can cut off 3 rows and have it working (maybe with minor modification to the circuit board).

I'm on board - all of your projects sound worthy if the quality is there, especially the doors and trunk, where there is great room for improvement. Bright white LEDs are the way to go with my Parchment interior

It's going to be a great summer of sock tanline-less drug dealing and pimpin'!

I also checked out your past thread of the taillights you were working on. Very nice stuff. If you decide to persue that mod further I'd be interested in that one as well.

Thanks for your efforts man, kudos to you.

What happened to the DIY? I usually do all my own work, but my converting of electricity and resistors has gone out the window. But I solder very well. Maybe you could just tell me if you used a couple resistors in line or hooked up several resistors to 1 resistor and several more to another resistor and then ran them in parallel. ? I would rather make these myself. It just feels better doing my own mods.

If that's what people want to do then so beit, just let me know so i don't waste my time..

And as far as price yes if you can get a big company like that to make them im sure it will be cheaper but i am not exactly doing this to become a millionaire...

Tell me how you want it look and i will tell what i did. But it varies depending on the LEDS. Give me the specs of your LEDS and i can deisgn the circuit for you. Mines are done with Superflux leds which require more current so my figures are different.

I would like to make mine just like yours. 10 high flux leds. 2 rows of five. Also can you tell me where you get your leds from? I usually shop at superbrightleds.com but they are a little expensive for high flux. If you want to pm me instead of taking up room on this thread, that's ok too.

Thanks for the help.
