Got the mailer a few weeks ago. Doing it with my A12 service next week.
Has anyone got the TSB PDF? It's not in the forum's TSB sticky thread (hasn't had new updates in a while, I think).

Got it done last Friday. When I asked the service guy if the ps fluid was going to be flushed/replaced, he said no . Just needed to be topped off. The paper work indicated 2 bottles of ps fluid. At least he gave a straight answer.

I was told the same thing by the dealer-They told me power steering fluid only needs to be replaced/flushed if it is contaminated.

i have an appointment set up for wednesday morning (two days from now) for this recall.
the last couple of days, i noticed that my 2005 tsx is making all kinds of grinding/squealing noises when turning. it was really bad when i was driving up in the parking garage at work.
could this have anything to do with the recall issue?

Dunno, but should be looked at immediately. (Well, tomorrow will have to do.) Did you check the fluid level?
#128
My 05 TSX with 86,000miles is having major problems with the power steering. It squeals when turning the wheel and it is very hard to turn. I looked at the p/s fluid reservoir and it was ultra low. I filled it up and a few days later, it is low again. I scheduled to do the recall so I hope that is the cause of this problem. I will find out tomorrow.

I have only come across one TSX that actually had a leaking hose, and that was in the area around where the P/S pressure switch is (right below the head, in back, where it goes down to the subframe). So if you want to check, visually, I would suggest looking there. It'll be pretty obvious if it's leaking, as there will be a build up of gook and such on the line/switch, and maybe even the surrounding areas.
On a side note, the TLs hose would leak right up the section of the hose at the pump, where the hardline goes into the softline.

Got my recall performed during a routine oil change (A 1 2) service interval. Didn't add much time, as they have to let it cool, and that happens during the oil change. Those who are waiting more than a week or two do to this ... why, don't put it off, it's an easy repair, get it in for servicing.
The repair order stated:
I sure hope my steering wheel groan has gone away too, but I suspect it is in fact the grommet as previously reported by a tech. It wasn't low on fluid, I had them check last year after the squeaking had already happened infrequenlty.
I figure I'll use the extended warranty on that before it expires, if not for an a/c compressor problem (I don't expect to be immune with the driving on I-40 I do).
No doubt. I've been told it's a "closed system" and so fluid doesn't need to be replaced unless it's contaminated ... or wasn't kept in-system during work.
The repair order stated:
Code:
REPLACE THE P/S PUMP OUTPUT HOSE (RECALL CAMPAIGN). S/B #10-010 CAUSE: POWER STEERING RECALL PER S/B #10-010. 5121G2 REPLACE THE P/S PUMP OUTPUT HOSE... 1 - 06530-SEC-A00 KIT, P/S FEED HOSE 1 - 08206-9002A FLUID, P.S. (they topped it off) CC: R3500 FC: 5HH00 PART: 53713-SDC-A02 COUNT: 1
I figure I'll use the extended warranty on that before it expires, if not for an a/c compressor problem (I don't expect to be immune with the driving on I-40 I do).
Never asked if the PS fluid was flush or replaced but I presume the PS fluid was replaced with 3 bottles of the stuff being used.

Brake fluid flush is independent of mileage. And I suggest taking it to a Honda dealer for that (or an independent shop). I believe it's less $$. Mine cost $100 at a local Honda dealership. I'm sure many talented folks can DIY, but it was too much for me to do, with all that bleeding, etc.

I had mine done in about 6hrs. The work from Frankel Acura in MD looks cleanly-done. They even did a general inspection, offered to wash the car (denied since I'm finicky), and vacuumed the interior.

Had mine done last week. I took her for some warranty work and they also performed this task.
Is there any reason why the new hose has a plastic / rubber sheath around it which is secured in place with cable ties, is this necessary?

Missing mount bracket after recall work
Hi guys, got this done yesterday. As soon as I got home, I inspected the work and noticed that there seems to be a missing bracket holder that holds the pipes right behind the bottom part of the engine, in the middle portion of the newly installed hose. I can even see the imprint left by the bolt head. I looked it up and here are the part numbers:
53740-SDA-A00 RUBBER, POWER STEERING PIPE HOLDER INSULATOR
53736-SDA-A01 HOLDER, POWER STEERING PIPE
93402-06012-08 BOLT-WASHER (6X12)
I went back to the dealership and they told me that part of the recall is installing the bracket in a different location. I don't see any new brackets being installed in there so I think they just won't admit that the tech forgot to install it back.
Can anyone confirm this please on the work done on your cars?
Thanks.

There are three brackets involved in the recall, and they don't change between the old and new hoses. Let's break it down in the pic below:
Bracket labeled as #10, goes on the valve cover. (Wraps around the hose).
Bracket labeled as #16, goes on the subframe, passenger's side, below the pressure switch. (Shaped like a "C", just sort of "clamps" over a rubber insert already on the line).
Bracket/insert labeled as #15 and #17, go around the line (and other line), (rubber insert, #17, is installed, then the bracket, #15, clamps around that. The area is over on more of the driver's side of the subframe, close to where the line actually goes into the rack.
All brackets are held in by 10mm bolts. There is no change over, etc, or any differences between the old hose and new hose, in regards to these brackets, etc. They should all be there.
Hope this helps

Thanks acuratech239! I appreciate the info. The missing parts are #15, 17 and 25 then. I've ordered the parts online (thank goodness they're cheap) and I'm now deciding if I should just install it myself. It's not worth my time driving 40 mi one way to get this done. But I'm definitely looking forward to getting the Acura service survey they send out. :-)

Well,I had my P/S hose recall done today, and I wish I hadn't. The hose install itself was correct. Brackets and whatnot was there. Engine bay was left clean of fluid. However the technician manage to scratch the shit out of my intake manifold cover, and scuff my valve cover and spark plug cover..Not to mention the fluid residue left on my right front fender and drops on my hood. After mentioning this issue to some service advisor, his first reaction was,"it came in that way". I said "hell no it didn't,I've got pics on my phone taken in your service drive with the advisor who wrote it up in the picture". That dude and the service manager still denied it. I went back and found my original service advisor that was in the pic and explained what had happened. He walked out to my car, looked at everything and then examined the picture. He agreed about the intake manifold cover and agreed to replace it for free.As for the valve cover and spark plug cover the said my picture wasn't good enough, but agreed to wash my car. To sum it up,I have to go back to pick up my manifold cover(they are going to let me have it to install myself) and I had to end up waxing my car to get the fluid residue off my car.

As an update on my saga with the PS Hose, I brought the TSX in for approval of the repair that i had done, but they opted to do the repair anyway, AND the dealership took care of the reimbursement for my DIY repair costs. I received a check for $130 about a week later.

Had my recall done on the 14th. Had to drive it 90 miles to Acura of Omaha since it is the closest dealer. They gave me a newer model TL as a loaner. That thing was pretty nice and handled well. I took it to the mall there and hung out there for a couple of hours til they called me. When I recieved my car I just parked it cause I saw a 3rd gen TL type S that wasn't there earlier. I checked it out. Before I left I popped my hood to see what they had done. It pretty much looked like what is described on some posts here. There is the foam/rubber sheath with the wire ties. All is well, I hope.
