Sorry if this has been mentioned before about Royal Purple...

But, i went to pepboys, all ready to buy 6 liters of RP oil. And i look at the bottle, and its missing the gold seal the "API - For gasoline Engine" seal.

Is this a bit of concern? I was going to get that over mobil one because of what you guys said. but this oil seems to be missing that certification for some reason, which you'd think they have for standard reasons.

Should I go with Mobil 1 for first oil change, or Royal Purple? Why is it missing that seal?

RP is what I use. I think it's an upgrade from Mobil 1 which I have used in the past for many years including the tranny. I say hit their web site and give them a call and ask your questions. Knowledge is power. Good luck.

Is the oil labelled as "SL" or "SM"? If so, its fine to use.
