Hmmm, I'll bet you could make real money manufacturing a removable "shift limiter" that matched the car's interior, but made it impossible to switch over into sport-shift mode unless you really, really meant to.
Probably not all that tough to do, and most likely could still be done "one handed" if you designed it right.
With more and more cars coming with sportshifts of various types, I suspect there is a market.

i can only hope that my lady will know a lot about cars. anyway, you should've told her, but it's not really your fault. she should've been paying attention. the part that gets me is that they thought it was funny. 
i would've raised hell. make-up sex and then some.
