So happy the car doesn't have a tire pressure monitor!
Hi
This is my first post and I will be picking up my 2004 Carbon TSX w nav next week and I can't wait. In researching I found the 2004 does not have tire pressure monitor and it made my heart sing with glee. Let me splain...I can just imagine the additional balance problems the shops are going to have when they mount new tires with this system as well as the additional expense now that you can't go to just any shop to get new tires. It's like HID lights...great idea until you need to replace one at $1500 a pop. I can see fine with my old Maxima's headlights and they cost all of $10 to replace.
Well be gentle with me as it's is my first foray into this froum

The RL system, which is the system Acura would most likely use on all of their cars if they were to offer a TPMS utilizes a tiny radio transmitter attached to the valvestem that transmits the data to a central unit for processing. The unit is very small and contributes minimally to the weight of the wheel.
I must have the supersized in my Mazda

Do any TSX's have a tire pressure monitor? Why bring up this point at all? I am a little confused. It's like saying "Man I am glad this car doesn't have a supercharger. Those things are a pain to maintain.

just wait till one of your HID lights burn out or get hit by a rock and then you may see my point of course mine won't break because I am putting a clear bra on as soon as I can.

The TPMS is not as bad as folks make it out to be. It will take a little getting used to, but its only been around for 6 months or so and its easy to "get along with" once you appreciate what it does. Yes you need a $400 activator/tester for the sensor's but once you have that and get familiar with how to put car's into "learn mode" its very simple and helpful to most helpless consumers.
In terms of it impacting balance, that's foolish, the valves are small, light and implemented very well.
A note to any TPMS users, do NOT lose you valve caps and make sure you get them serviced at a place that knows what they are doing. The valve cap and core that comes together must remain together you can not switch them around, it may effect the system. New TPMS valves are around $60(each), and you would need 4, however this will likely change as soon as the aftermarket gets its hands on them.
