smashed windows stolen stuff

So today i went to eat with some friends in flushing, came back to my car around 940pm.

Smashed window on the ground looks at my window turns out it happens to be mine. I was parking in a muncipal parking lot, near 41st ave.

Being that i go to school in buffalo, and live in long island i never would have thought that this would happen, what can you say i wasnt ready for theft to happen.

Canon rebel xti, 2 lenes, 2 2gb cards, about 1000 total
hp dv1000 laptop 1200
Northface bookbag 45
2 northface bike bags 25 and 30
friends medicine (address was on there)
her keys (so locks need to be changed)
Walkie talkies

Man so they got a nice steal, my rear windows are tinted and i didnt have anything open, just a backpack, and my bike bag with my camera in it. No one could have known anything was valuable.

sigh bummers, nothing could be helped but next time take stuff with me.

need to replace the rear window, does anyone know if i should talk to insurance? i have allstate, not sure their theft covers that much.
PLus the window do i have to get an honda/acura window?

Damn dude...sorry about your loss.

Here in the Bay Area, I don't leave anything in sight...ya know...crackheads! They steal the most mundane things...breath mints, pencils, my shrunken head collection, etc...

Sorry to hear. This is precisely why I never leave anything visible in the car that might look like it has anything valuable in it. If I am going to be stepping away from my car for more than 10 minutes, I will take my bag and put it in the trunk.

Sorry man. I was broken into on Saturday night. It hurts. You can get a window from any glass service. I had a guy come out to my job yesterday and put in a new window. Looks OEM, just doesn't have the Honda/Acura logo on it. Geico took care of that for me.

Good luck with everything.

Dude, i'm sorry to hear that, it always sucks. I had it happen to me with my old car when i went to school at Drexel (West Philadelphia, great area....lol j/k). I had my car there for 5 years and nothing ever happened to it and then one month before graduation, some one keyed the ful length of it and then smashed my window and took NOTHING....stupid bums or drunk kids. The only thing in my car was the club, which on on my car, and some old cassette tapes....LOL. Call your insurance company and they will probably have you pay a detuctable, mine was $100 and a glass guy came down with a truck and fixed in on the road in like 35 mins. They even vacuumed out the glass and everything however, talk to your insurance company cause AAA raised my premium on me because of it......like $100 total a year which is crap and i'm still fighting it but just make sure!

Wow, that sucks man! Sorry to hear.

With the value of all of that stuff, I'd definitely file a claim through insurance. If they start questioning anything (ie: if the stuff was actually stolen), you have a witness (your friend, right?).

Yeah, the deductable will probably be $300 or $500 or whatever you have it set at, but since there's easily over $2K worth of stuff stolen, plus the cost of a new window and tint, you are probably best off paying it and getting everything replaced through insurance.

Good luck and again, sorry to hear.

My son's Mustang GT was broken into, right in my driveway. Smashed his rear window. Got away with his Digicam and aftermarket stereo system. Probably around 1k+. Insurance covered the window but not the items in the car. Not even the aftermarket stereo. It wasn't part of the car orginially. I'd call your insurance to at least get the window repaired. Sorry it hear about the incident. Why can't people just leave other people's things alone?

Good luck.

I never leave anything valueable in my car. If I do, I either lock it up in my glovebox or shove it in my trunk.

Sorry it happened to you.

Hey Bro...sad to hear this shit happen man. I can't believe that people would be so fucked up these days. Isn't that 41th Ave municipal parking lot like two blocks from the police station? Well, if you need something let me know.

wait, is that the one by the police station, or the one by the LIRR?

either way, i'm very wary of flushing. cars on 41st ave by the LIRR going toward college pt blvd....sometimes some shithead would go down the street and break the glass of 5-10 cars to see if anything is worth stealing. my parents' car got broken into a few times there.

sometimes i just worry if i add too much stuff to my car (ie. tints, kit, etc...) it's just a 'break into me' sign. people are freaking worthless.

sorry about your ride.

sorry to hear about that, but you know a thief sees a bag, and they will be risking to break in to see what it is. i go to UCF and like i dont leave anything in my car at all. i got my service manuals and owner manuals stolen. how crazy is that, i had my ipod in it that time and they didnt steal that? so yea some people will steal about anything so its better to have nothing in your car.

sometimes, putting your bag in the trunk doesn't even matter.

if they want in, they'll get in. my parents had a crappy late-90s corolla and it got busted into in flushing. they stole my dad's sunglasses.

car insurance wont cover the stuff in the car. like someone mentioned you can look into home owner's insurance, but they you may need to make 2 claims, 2 deductibles and the chance of either or both insurances going up

it wasn't visible they were in 3 different bags, and i so happen forget to put them away or take one of the bags.

Like nothing was visible except for the bags, and no one could tell what was in there.

which stinks becasue people would grab anyway/

major bad news so apparently home owner's insurance is able to cover it, but when my dad was doing the paper work, there was something about
theft, so when he was checking all the options there was something very vague and not cleared up for him.

The off theft had some word at the end that basically made it excluded, so that option was excluded.

Sucks big time.

I am worried about your friend since they hav the address and the keys. If i were u, I would start checking around ubid.com,ebay, and etc jus incase they decide to sell it online...(if ur product was registerd..i think s/n will basically prove that it was urs and even possibly catch those ****ers) gl and hope the insurance covers the things u lost...

That really sucks...sorry....damn thieves! Unfortunately the thief was well rewarded for just reacting to a couple of bags sitting in the backseat...now he/she is gonna chance another break-in when they see a simple bag/backpack sitting in a car.

Flushing is a damn toilet

Does anyone else see the irony in a bunch of Sh*theads living in a town called "flushing?"

Sorry about your stuff. My motto always is "Shove it in the trunk", although my GF doesn't like that one so much....

Wow that's pretty crazy. I've spent a lot of flushing since my high school days and while I always heard about random acts of crime every now and then I had no idea it was this pervasive. I guess all those nice cars in the muni will attract the wrong types of people =(
