Smart move: trading 5AT for 6MT

I have had my TSX for about 3 weeks. I thought as a daily driver, an automatic transmission would be best. After all, it comes with the SS option if I want more control, right? It is not quite the same. I miss having a manual shift, even if it is tedious at times. Anyway, my dealer is willing to trade my car out for a 6MT for $1500. The car won't be here until late July or early August (it had a production date of July 7), so the 5AT will have prbably close to 1500 miles on it by the time the swap occurs. Obviously the best move would have been to buy the 6MT in the first place, but is this a smart move for the money?

I would just leave it the way it is!!!
It's not worth the 1500. But then again, that my opinion. :P

you paid $1 a mile........Would you pay $40000 for a car when you have 40000 miles on it?

just think what you could do with that 1500.......you could SAVE IT, you could get some options for your current TSX.......you could give it to me so i could put a down payment on my new TSX....(3rd option was a joke unless you are rich and very giving)

i would keep the auto....but thats up to you.....

Once you think you are going to drive this car for couple years than that $1500 is worth to spend and especially the 6sp manual of tsx is so slick to shift.

It all depends on how bad you want a MT. Did you finance the car or did you pay cash? If you financed, you will want to check and find out the payoff amount of your car loan.

$1500 is worth it if u really like MT. If i am you, i would definitely go for it. But again depends on the level you want it. if you really do, then it will be no regret for you. for sure.

I can't stand AT, $1500 is worth it, if you going to keep this car.

Look at it this way: VW asks $1,253 extra for the 6MT on the Passat W8.

i would wait and see if the dealer has an similar used 6mt and then trade straight up. I think the dealer would do this because the auto is a far better seller then the manual.

your point of selling value brings up the issue of probably being worth only about $500-1000 for this trade.........offer them $1000 cash

In my opinion, its not worth it. $1500 can be put into the OEM kit, Injen CAI, or a nice set of rims.

Oooooh. Tough one. I really like the 6MT and if it was a $1500 option, I'd probably pop for it, because that is what I want. But to trade now and pay that? Hmmmm. Probably not. Maybe you could move somewhere where there is more traffic congestion so you'd feel better about having the AT.

If you really wanted MT in the first place you wouldn't have settled for an AT. But either ways it's your money.

If I had $1500 I would get 13" AP Racing front brembos for my G (actually I'd need $100 more). I'm sure someone makes inexpensive quality brembos for the TSX. Just don't know who.
