Silly question about the all season mats

For the front driver side mat, I can't seem to get the hooks that hold the mat in place to go into the little holes. Is there some sort of trick for doing this?

not really a trick, but tilt the rear edge of the mat so that the mat is bowed and that edge is perpindicular with the floor. Then slide the pins into the holes and drop the mat. Also, it helps to have the seat moved back.

not a silly question, but weird.

I find it easiest if I get my hand underneath there and push the hooks up through the holes at the same time. Also, make sure to take the carpet mats out first..I dont think both will fit at the same time.

Thanks guys. I think part of the problem may be that the holes were partically closed over on my mats when I got them. I had to clear the holes with a knife, but have never quite been able to get them to fit. I'm going to try FDL's approach tonight.

As I always tell my students (I'm a college professor): "There are no silly questions in my class. There are stupid questions...but no silly questions."

Ha, ha. I too am an instructor (I teach technical computing classes - Microsoft, Cisco etc.) and I what I WANT to say, but never do, is:

"there are no stupid questions, just stupid people".

C.

PS I'm sure someone can guess the source of that quote.

They both fit fine on mine (see photo of mats - click on link for pics in my signature). Other people have also said they won't fit, so maybe the little pin in each car is slightly different height? Doesn't seem likely to me, but who knows.

Yeah, I was ignoring the issue until I had seen your photos.

Ya, i'd rather have them out anyways. But some people prefer to just leave 'em in. Personal preference I guess.

Maybe I see it differently, but why take them out if they fit? Then I just have to find some place to store them. I'd prefer to just store them under my all season floor mats.

Same here. I'd rather have them beneath my all season floor mats.

Well, I found the real trick to getting the hooks through the holes on the all seasons. I just kept trying to fit the hole of the entire hook. What you do, is put the mats over the hooks, and then press hard on the front of the hole, where the hook curves out. The lip slides under the hook, and then you press down on the other side.

Not exactly rocket science, I guess!
