Should I drive three hours to Pohanka Acura for what seems to be a good deal??

Hi everyone:

I have posted here before, i am sorry if i get in trouble for posting about this subject so much. I am about to get a great deal on a:
2007 Acura Tsx
6 speed navigation
a-spec body kit

I live in new jersey and would have to drive all the way to virginia to pick up the car. Has anyone dealt with this dealership and thinks i should stay away? I am about to put a deposit down on the car and would really appreciate someone sharing any experience they have had with this dealer. Thank you!

And yes I did search, and people seem to have good and bad experiences, but when you are about to spend a lot of money on something you get a little nervous about driving so far for a big headache. Thanks again!

If you can get a good deal-go for it-I live in North Carolina and bought my 06 tsx 6spd/wnav from a dealer in PA. It was great driving my new car 700 miles home.

I almost did the NJ to VA drive, but I think it was Radley instead of Pohanka. I've heard good things about Pohanka on here....I'd go for it if it's the best deal you can get. Obviously, if it's only $200 cheaper there, it's not a good enough deal to go through all that aggravation.

They are the number one Acura dealer in the DC Metro area. They are a high volume dealer as well as Radley's.

I bought my 2006 TSX from Pohanka...no major complaints. I liked my sales guy. If you've got the numbers hammered out before you make the drive, I see no reason not to do it. Good luck!

I've bought my last 2 Acuras from Pohanka. Even drive 45 minutes for Pohanka service even though Radley is 10 minutes away. Great service.

From what I am reading no dealer does. I mean my dealer has horrible remarks and people around here seem to love them. I think thats just a site to go and complain if you dont like your dealer.

Yeah, people are much more likely to bother posting comments/ratings if they have complaints than if they are happy. People here seem to like them, so I'd trust that more.

I got my 07 TSX and my dad got his MDX from Pohanka. Overall, I really like their customer service and service department... as dwest said earlier, they're the #1 dealer in Northern VA. Since they're #1, they're pushing for good customer feedback. They were willing to give me a pretty good deal on my TSX as long as I gave them good feedback back to Acura.

During my purchase, I did stop by Radley of Falls Church and I had a horrible experience with the dealership. Given, I may have gotten a really bad sales person, but if I buy another Acura it'll be with Pohanka

Sales at Pohanka is great. I only take issue with their service department, and really, only the 1 guy who continually gets assigned to my service reqs anytime I go in there.

I've never bought a car from Pohanka (got my TSX at Carmax), but I've been pleased with Pohanka's service department. They seem very honest and reliable, as far as I can tell.

I actually got a call from them last night, that they had sold the pwp 6mt w/ navi. Doh! but they had a black on black 6mt w/ navi in stock so i think i have no choice but to go with that car. (if mods want to merge the other thread i started with this one, i feel bad i am cluttering up the message board.

Me too. Radley is just over a mile away from my house and I still take my TSX out to Pohanka (30 miles away) for service. Had a great sales experience with them as well.

probably should get a clear bra installed..

driving that distance in a brand new car, you're going to find many imperfections by the time you get to your driveway.

I paid 500$ after discount for a 3M bra... which included 1/3 of the hood, front bumper, side mirrors, and door edges

But I would suggest a leather bra for your trip back to NJ and doing the clear bra install back in NJ since the install takes about a day to do...

Pohanka

I go there regularly.

1. Love the service department.

2. Think the sales experience depends on the salesman. Mine was soo good I wrote the dealership a letter specifically commending my salesperson. We was excellent to deal with. I hears hes not there anymore.

i bought mine in radley but i also visited pohanka (since i live in fairfax). all the sales guys were very very very nice. of course i was wearing pretty tight clothes and a skirt. even if i didn't, i bet they would have been nice.

you can't go wrong with pohanka or radley. i've got a few friends who have bought their tsx or tl in both locations.

They sold the car you had put a deposit on?

Anyway, driving to get a car is no big deal, but note that steady Interstate cruising isn't recommended for engine break-in. If you can stand it, take the back-roads home. Avoid WOT, steady speeds and the cruise control.

No I was being lazy and didnt call them back that night to put a deposit on it when they called me about the price. So they just sold it that very night.

Thanks for the info for the break in, just one question what is WOT?

when I drove my new tsx from PA to NC I drove major highways. The speed limit varied from 55 to 70-no problems. The dealer that I bought my tsx from had to get the car from a dealer in NJ since I wanted a certain color so when I first drove it, it had 138 miles. In order to avoid paint chips you would have to put a clear bra on the whole thing. I have some chips near the sunroof. the rocks seem to hit the windshield and bounce off it. (700+ miles for that trip)

I got mine at Radley - no complaints. All of the folks there were nice and trustworthy.
I visited Pohanka too. They were nice, but Radley gave me a better deal.

Safe driving!

Sorry -- WOT = Wide Open Throttle.

There are umpteen theories on break-in, but moderation is the key. I think there are a few threads here on this board with more info. I'll see if I can dig one up.
