Ship to Europe?

I'm moving to Switzerland in Sept and would love to take my 04 Acura TSX with me.

Has anyone done this? Swiss are pretty strict and I assume I'll probably be replacing headlights, among other things. Is it worth it? My other option is to buy a German model car here, and wait 6 months to ship it over.

Also, are there Navi Maps for Europe available? I emailed NAVTEQ in the Netherlands and they said contact your dealer. Of course, the dealer said call NAVTEQ.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

It took not much more than a month to ship car from US to Belarus (near Russia), so, I suppose there will be no problem.
And yes, there are maps for GPS and I don't think that you will have something to do with the headlights... Only taillights because of red turn signals.

Probably cost prohibitive.

I imagine the import duties and bureaucratic headaches aren't worth it.

You're better off grabbing a Euro Accord there

To answer your Navi question though, as far as I know you just need to swap the discs

With all the taxes and licenses, cars over there cost substantially more. I could sell my 04 TSX here, but couldn't get an equivalent car there for the same money. This is according to what I have heard.

Anyone know the source of these discs with European maps?

thx

Well, months later. I am safely insured, with Swiss plates on my TSX. Yes, they tried to make me change the headlights, but it wasn't "mandatory". The only modification to the car - red reflectors on the back.

However, I am still without the functioning Navi with Euro maps. Have tried several sources for the dvd, with no luck. Any one out there familiar with the Honda Accord Sor Accord Euro? I might be able to get an equivalent as I assume the hardware is similar? If you have an info, I would appreciate it.

merci

Vraj, I have a 2004 TSX and there is a chance I might be moving to Netherlands soon. Can you please give me some information since you already successfully transported your car to Switzerland? I would greatly appreciate it.

What company did you use to ship it and what was the cost (if you don't mind telling me)? I live in Houston, TX and it's a big port so I should not have to pay as much as most people.

Are the rear lights the only thing you had to change?

What insurance did you get?

What kind of specific paperwork did you have to get to ship it?

Thank you in advance.

IMO, I would only ship a car if it was worth over 100k and needs to actually be shipped. That being said, if I cant get the car from that other country. >_>

I believe it doesn't take 6 months to ship, but the best option is to grab the Euro R model over there. They come with the blue head lamps that aren't legal in the US. The Euro R model is quite better in my opinion. But if you like your that much, just ship it. I don't think you have to do anything to the headlights, and I don't know about the GPS issue.
