Saying goodbye to my TSX. Its not you honey, its me...
I feel like I hardly knew her.
After 2 years and 1 week of ownership, I'm letting her go. I can't really complain about her. Its been just about all good times, in fact, the only bad time I ever had with her was having to replace the front bumper twice. She's seen most of the mods available for the car come and go, tried on different headers, cats, intakes, pulleys, stereos, all in her best effort to please me; but in the end she just couldn't keep my attention.
I have that slight feeling of guilt as if I'm walking away from an ex-wife. She sure could cook, but she just couldn't keep me happy in bed. And sure, she would have made a great mother, but thats not what I'm looking for at this stage in life. And so, I've traded her for a younger, slimmer, more attractive model. And, as they sat next to each other in the driveway for a few weeks, the TSX would always look at me as I came out to enjoy the new BMW and give me those looks that just cried out in anguish, screaming "but I get better gas mileage!" and "how will you take all of your friends out together in that!" I would look longingly at her, but my attention would stray back to the BMW. And, as if the new girl knew exactly how to get my attention, she'd just take her top off, right there in front of everyone and let the whole neighborhood know just how prudish the TSX was, and how the BMW felt about the matter.
And so, I'd drop into my new BMW Z4 convertible and motor away. The new girl reminds me of all the little pleasures I'd been denying myself all along. The wind in my hair, the rear wheels pushing the car instead of the front wheels dragging it, and the sound of a natural motor that doesn't need an intake or exhaust just to get the attention of the library monitor to come over and tell us to knock it off. Yes, we were young and in love. I'd grab her SMG knob and slide it smoothly back and forth, rowing up and down until... but this is a PG-13 story, so you can use your imagination from here.
And so, as I would pull back into the driveway, Mrs. Robinson would be waiting. Sullen and unused; she puts on her best smile, pouring out her mavenly charm for all to admire, but knowing deep within that her biological (and in this case, mechanical) clock was ticking. She had to find a new suitor quickly lest she become overwhelmed with anger and grief and go all to rust. And so, I let her go. She didn't hire a lawyer and try to run me through the ringer, as I just paid off her liens and held the title out for prospective suitors to drool over. Wouldn't you know it, they came in droves.
Will the new love last? Or will its adrenal lust simply fade in time. Most likely the latter. But, whatever the future may hold, here we are together, now.
Goodbye old girl, it wasn't you... it was me.

Winter wheels on for now, I'll take some more shots in the spring when I get some new rims. I have the original type 107 ellipse wheels, but not sure I want to keep using them. I have been favoring the M6 wheels lately.

I don't know if you'll get flak here, but that is a great freakin car. I got to drive a co-workers once, and its a great drive. I got to drive it on a great 80 degree day in orange county, CA. Talk about changing my mind about convertibles; thats quite an experience.
Good to do at that stage in your life, before you have kids. Good luck to you, I enjoyed reading your posts.

I was planning to get a convertible for summer use, and TSX for winter, primary choice is S2000. But the plan has been changed the past few months due to the new BMW 135i, that little mofo looks unique (I will for sure convert it to Tii for that matter) and the power it has will put 80% of cars on the street to shame.
MUST RESIST THE DARK SIDE.

Reach, sorry to see you go. Hope you have as much fun with the BMW as you did with the TSX.
Rwd.....man, only one car I had had that(not including my truck)...1979 Pinto. Not quite the same, lol . I still have a soft spot for her though,Pinto or not. But I'll bet just about everyone feels nostalgic for their first car.
Again, have fun with it, drive safe when you have too, and drive it hard when you can get away with it, hehe,
Ken

Why does it seem like everyone here on AZ is dropping their Acura for a BMW??
The only reasonable BMW I can currently afford is the upcoming 128i without being a slave to car payments.

Well I'll be damned Mike. Didn't at all think it was the Z4.
Ride looks great. We have to meet up for the summer and you gotta let me try it
I'm slowly but surely being pulled into the BMW crowd hahaha

Sorry to see another TSXer leave, hope you'll hang around the forums still. The Z4 is a great car
I'm planning on picking up a Z4 M Roadster as a weekend car once I'm working full time and keeping the TSX pretty much till she dies. I can't wait to get it, but I certainly can't afford it on a 19 year old student's salary

it's a car-drive it
congrats and good luck. That car is great for you while you are young and single. (before the wife, kids and mini-van). I personally think my tsx has more than enough power. More hp means go faster, means tickets and MPG goes down. I do love the z-4, when they first came out I wanted the yellow one with the black interior with the yellow stitching. It was not practical for me but I did love looking out it. nice names for your cars-mine is the Queen Mother tsx.

To be perfectly honest, I've never liked the way the Z4 Roadster looked. Still, I have no doubts that it's really fun to drive.
Congrats man!

Interesting swap. We had a 3.0 Z4 (6-speed) for a while as a third car, but our move to longer commutes, one house (a 7 figure waterfront that forced a few concessions) and loss of storage spelled the end of that extravagance. It's a nice car, but the over the top flip up screen on the dash that controls virtually everything (hated it) and the usual BMW foibles (we're no were near a BMW dealer) would prevent us from ever going near one again. Actually, it took about a week for me to regret buying the Z4 and not going with a Honda S2000. Hope your experience is better (especially with the SMG, of which I've never read a kind word).

The slimmer, more attractive model comes low. There is no need for you to put her down. She is already low and that is her class. On the other hand, the tsx was up high when she first met you, and indeed you put her down and she did not complain because all what she wanted is to please you.
It is true that your new girl could take her top off and please you, but let’s face it, your girl could take her top off for anyone of us to see. Remember a girl that easy will get anyone’s attention and I bet, you don’t even feel comfortable leaving her anywhere, cause you know what you have and you know you might come back and not find her and guess what she wont be there for you anymore.
It took you 2 years and 1 week to figure that the tsx is not your type, and now you telling us, your in love with the new model that you just met. You barely knew her. You might wana admit that you are in lust not in love and as you said “adrenal lust simply fade in time”.
Goodbye TSX you will be missed.
