Sales of AT vs MT
Acura has initially expected a 70/30 distribution, as far as automatic and manual tranny for the TSX. Does anybody know if it had worked out this way?
I wouldn't be surprised if the manual was actually in more demand.

i doubt manual would be in more demand than the 70/30 they esitmated...even on this website where it is mostly a car enthuasist crowd..there are a lot of auto's..so in the real world even more would be autos.

There's not way the MT is in more demand than the AT. But the demand to supply ratio might be higher for the MT, which will make it harder to get.

That makes complete sense to me. I remember when VW first brought the Passat over here. Dealers were charging a premium for the 5-speed, but the automatic was very easy to get.

Those of use who are buying MTs should be paying less!

That's probably the same effect (affect?) of Acura marketing both AT and MT at the same price. As far as I can tell, the Euro Accords have the same ATs and MTs as the TSX, but ATs cost EXTRA.

when I went to shop around for my TSX, the dealer was going to trade a AT for a MT and he said that he would not have a problem with that because the AT is in higher demand. My brother in law brought his MDX into the acura dealer for service and was talking to some of them and they were surprised that the MT is selling higher than they expected, but still not more than AT. They should have made a TSX with like 20 more HP that only came in MT (guess that would be like a type S, duh!)

I would be very interested to learn what Honda's TSX sales target is for next year. I think they could sell 50,000.

I hope the TSX does not remain rare. If it remains rare, then parts, repairs, and insurance will likely remain high. I tend to keep my cars for many many years.
My current car is a '90 Accord EX 2-door. Parts are never a problem, especially since that series ('90-93) are still very very common.

I noticed that roughly 20 Accords were sold for every 1 TSX last month. (Or 25:1 for the year). That's rare enough for me.
