Roof molding slightly not flush against car

I just noticed today the roof molding (that black strip goes along the top of the car from side of windshield to the back window) on my car on the drivers side near where the windsheild meets the roof, it doesn't quite touch the car ever so slightly. It's where the molding starts to curve down the side of the windsheild from the top of the roof. In the right light I can look in there and see a sliver of space between the molding and the car.

I wonder if this is why the car windshield area creaks, I know somebody else mentioned that before. When I push down on the molding I can push it into place to touch the car, but it just goes right back to where it was before when I let go. I wonder if water gets in there and may cause issues down the road. Does anybody else have this on their cars?

Did you find anything CGTSX?

I'm pretty sure that most moldings around the windshield and the roof molding are cosmetic anyways, but it might be moving around and making creaking noise.
