RL Loaner
Yep, that's right...I'm a TSX owner and I got an '05 RL loaner...the serviceman was nice enough to get me drive one for the day. I'm sure a lot of you already know what i'm going to say, but here are my anywayz...
The car is freakin sweet. when i got in the car, the serviceman tells me put the transmitter in your pocket, you don't need a key...my first pleasent surprise.
so as I'm driving off the lot, I have to hit "OK" to the start-up screen. As I hit OK on the screen, i just see that rainbow effect on the screen, and the OK still there. I then learned that the navi is not touch-screen like the TL and TSX. My first unpleasent surprise.
The navi was a bit more complicated to use. I would much rather have touch screen, much easier to navigate.
Now I know the car is 300 hp, but honestly, it didn't feel like it. It might be because the car was so freakin smooth and quiet. But I was expecting to be thrown back in my seat, like I was in the G35.
Now the handling...that car sticks to the road like it was on tracks. I floored the car on sharp turns and it stuck to the ground like glue. Extremely impressed. There is even a mode on the navi that tells you how much power is going to the front and rear wheels, and how the power is being distributed while you are driving.
One last note, I learned a big lesson...NEVER EVER EVER PLAY AROUND WITH THE NAVI WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING! NEVER! I was trying to find different functions while I was driving, only realizing later that I must have been staring at the screen for at least 30 seconds without a glance at the road. Had there been a car or something in front of me, i would have rammed it at 40 mph.
Overall, impressed with the car, but just wish it had more kick. When I picked up my TSX, it kind of felt right. It's lighter, less features, but the touch screen navi is a big convenience. It felt right

RL's heft cancels out the 300hp, I've heard the RL is around the TL acceleration wise, but I hear as you go up in the RPMs you can really feel the thrust. Nice car though =D

My dealer only gives out the TSX. I would LOVE to get an RL. I got an FX35 one time and it was AWESOME! I'm supprised to hear that it handles so well for such a heavy car. It's small on the outside though. Looks like it's the same size as the Accord. But once you get in it's huge!

Did you get to use the Sport Shifting mode and paddle shift buttons on the steering wheel? *drool*
I sure with Honda would design a 6-AT w/ paddle shift soon. I might have reconsidered my 6-MT.

Same thing with me cause I'm not 25 yet. But I got an Infiniti. I would have been pissed if they gave me a Malibu.

I got an RL loaner when they locked my keys in the car once. Believe it or not it only feels sluggish because the dealer is putting regular fuel in there. Or whoever filled it up before they brought it back put regular in there.
I had mine for a week so i actually ran the gas down and put premium in it when i filled back up. I could feel a huge difference.
As for the touch screen, i dont think it's a good idea as far as where the screen is located. It's a little too far for an average person's arm to reach out everytime.
Besides... the voice commands are a lot nicer on the RL than they are on the TSX, you dont even have to use the joystick to spell out the roadnames. Actually, you dont even have to spell out the roadnames, all you have to do is say the name of the road and it will pop up.
Anyways... enjoy the ride...
After a week... IMHO, i still sort of missed my tsx and was glad to be back in it.
