Removing dealer-installed moonroof visor

Now that we're seeing glimpses of nice weather up here in the Northeast, I'd like to remove the ugly dealer-installed moonroof visor so that I can see the sky instead of that bulky plastic over my head. Is this something that we ordinary mechanically-inclined owners can do ourselves, or does it need to be removed by an Acura mechanic? If it's okay to do ourselves, is there anything I need to be careful of? Anybody have any experience with this?

Isn't the function of the visor to reduce wind noise when the roof is open? Then it makes more sense to have the visor installed in warm weather, and removed in cold weather, when the roof is mostly closed?

the moonroof visor is typically very easy to remove. the one on my civic just has two screws securing two clips. yours appears to have four. all that is needed is probably a phillips screw driver and an adjustable wrench, if that much.

if i may suggest, permanently remove the visor. it damaged the paint on my civic by the time i realized i didn't want it any more. and the tsx visor is not the most flattering of the visors offered by honda.

I was doing 80-90 on the highway today with the roof wide open with no reflector and it was fine.. The wind reflector looks gey anyway. KILL IT!

I had the moonroof visor installed and removed it. Now I have a mark where the seal was . I will not reinstall it.

MUCH thanks for the service manual info!

Also appreciate the feedback with similar opinions about the visor. If the weather is still good this coming weekend, the visor will be coming off then. It was on during the winter months for two reasons: (1) I had the moonroof closed all winter and never realized how ugly the massive chunk of plastic blocking the sky view was until I opened it up last week, plus (2) I just bought the TSX in December and its been too cold up here to do any outside work until recently.

Ugh, sorry to hear about the markings left by the removed visor. I hope mine hasn't been on long enough to do the same, but no doubt will be.
