Received OEM underbody kit

Alright,

Just had it delevired this morning to my parents house. (didn't want it sitting outside in Philadelphia). Brother called and said it came in two huge boxes. I am hoping to do the install myself. However, don't think I will have enough time this week. I have read on here that a lot of people have done it themselves, and says it takes two to three hours. I hope it doesn't take any more than two, plus, I don't want to have to jack up the car.

I have installed two brush guards on my old explorer, so I am hoping this won't be any more difficult.

Now I have the OEM underbody kit, a lip spoiler which I still have to get painted, OEM all-weather mats, and OEM trunk tray. Thats another question, with the lip spoiler, I ordered it, and it was pretty bendable, except i left it in my trunk, and when it was cold, it was rock solid. I am not sure I want that on my car if it changes characteristics like that. I have a feeling that the paint would crack on it or something.

Guess for now, the only other thing I want to do is maybe add HID foglights or some kind of suspension upgrade in the future. Any other opinions would be appreciated.

Suspension upgrades highly recommended to get the most out of the chassis. Also, highly recommend new tires (and wheels if you can afford them) to improve upon the existing settings since the OEM Michelin tires are a serious compromise in so many areas.

Yeah, the tires need to go. However, I don't think I can afford new wheels as well. The only way would be to sell my old tires and wheels to someone else for around $350-$400. They have about 2,000 miles on them so far. I was thinking the TL wheels would be cool. I want to keep an OEM appearance, so might go that route. Would I have to use dampeners or offsets to use the TL wheels and tires?

I might eventually get the A-SPEC suspension, since I want it convered under warranty, and I don't want much of a drop, like an inch at most.

Thanks for all the help.

I was going to have my friend make custom housings for the HID fog lights. His father owns a shop that services, porche's, saab's, as well as a handful of other costly imports, etc... He has a RSX that he installed HID foglights for. If I covered the cost of the parts, he said he would fabricate something to house the HID structure. We will see how it turns out.

Well, little TO'ed right now. I am at work, but my brother is home for winter break, and he opened the boxes only to find that the rear underbody spoiler is not there. I called the dealership that I bought it from, and they said that it was on back order, and they would be receiving it in a few days. Then, from there, it took about a week and a half to ship it to my house. They didn't even warn me when I ordered it. I am a little pissed right now.

Yeah..I was about to say....I just got mine a couple of weeks ago and it came in 3 huge boxes.

As for the install. I bet you can do it yourself. Only thing is, it does say about 60 degrees. Part of the kit is attached to the existing front and back bumpers via 2 sided tape, so it's important, that they are hot enough to stick well. You might want to find a warm place or wait to install because of that. Maybe you can use a hair dryer to warm..it up but I don't know if that's safe on the paint...and everything.

By the way..what color do you have?

Good luck!

I have a SSM TSX, 6MA. I can't wait to see it with the kit on it. Plus, hope my lip spolier finishes it off nicely.

small flat-head scredriver for taking out those black pop-off things, phillips-head screwdriver, ratchet w/ normal honda bolt sizes (i.e...8mm, 10mm, etc.), alcohol and swabs for cleaning area that tape will stick too, and jack.

It took me about 2.5 - 3 hours to install it myself in a parking lot at my complex.

Make sure to do a fresh wash before you install, and have a dry place to keep it for 24 hours until the tape cures.

Many people I think use the OE fogs but use bulbs made by Hoen for the right look.

www.hoenusa.com I think is the site else just google.

How long does it take the dealer to install the OEM underbody kit and how much did they charge?
