Recall fix
Has anyone gotten a call from the dealership on when your scheduled to have your TSX fixed?
I haven't heard a word, peep or an email from anyone except for news outlets.
I live in Southbay (CA) and my dealership would be Power Acura in Rolling Hills.

Honda is sending out official recall notices by mail. I got mine 2 days ago. You can also call the dealership to inquire. There is a sticky at the top of the 1st gen page thread page.

I believe the recall is being "staged" from the oldest year to newest because the hose failure is more likely to occur in older cars. The mailings will also be sent gradually (according to year) to not overload the dealers with work. So don't expect the mailings to be sent to every owner at the same time. (I have a 2005 and have not seen the mailing yet).

hey OP, give your local dealer a call and see what's up. I was at Santa Monica Acura (for some other stuff) and they were already getting replacements in so I got it done already~

I got a postcard from Dave Mungenast Acura in St. Louis about a week ago. It wasn't the official recall notice, but just a note that my car might be affected by the recall. I called the dealership and got my car fixed on Thursday.

I have an 04 and have not yet received the letter, either. I'm getting a little antsy because I need an oil change badly, but want to wait to do both at the same time. Hopefully it comes early next week.
And yes, you can also refer to the sticky at the top of the page.

I have an 08 and had a scheduled B1 service due. The dealer went ahead and did the recall work. He did say the dealer just got the recall parts the day before. You don't have to wait for the recall notice to schedule the repair, in my opinion. The dealers are well aware of the recall and should accommodate you if you are bringing your vehicle in for other service. It will save you a trip.

I haven't gotten a notice yet for my '05 TSX but it does show up under "Recalls" on http://owners.acura.com/landing.aspx
I called the dealer I bought it from and can set up an appointment as soon as I figure out when I have some time for it. I'm considering having them do the power-steering belt too while they're in there.

I'm sure only a tiny fraction of all TSX owners are members to this or other Acura websites so the majority of TSX owners need the official notification. I would personally like the notification to keep with the files/records on my car.

As some have already stated, you do NOT have to wait for your letter. Any dealer that services a 2004-2008 TSX from here on out is REQUIRED to do the recall while it's in the dealer. If the P/S hose is not done and the car leaves, the dealer, not American Honda is responsible for any occurance to the car there after. Just call up your local dealer and get it done!

it's a car-drive it
I wonder how many here have actually had the problem this fix is supposed to....fix. Maybe it's me, but there seems to be a little...... when I guess panic would be too strong a word, between the lines here, but after over 5 years and 121K miles on my 05, and 92K miles on the 07, without a problem, I'll have this taken care of when it's convenient.

I wouldn't say it's a mojor issue but there have been several TSXs come in BEFORE the recall with leaking hoses. And just to add to to information, if you did get yours repaired BEFORE the recall you are on grounds of reimbursment! Just give a call to the dealer that did you work and let them know.

Anyone know what exactly the recall fix entails? The original Honda press release from April 29th specifically mentions, "The repair involves installing a new power steering hose, o-ring gasket and fluid-- all done at no cost to the vehicle owner." Yet, the recall letter I received today (I have an '05) only mentions a new hose, with no mention of the gasket and fluid. Does the hose replacement actually include new fluid? I ask because I've been told I needed my power steering fluid replaced (it's dirty), but put it off thinking it would be part of the recall. Why pay if it's free, right?

I had mine done on Tuesday....went smoothly and rather quickly. In addition to the hose, fluid and o-ring, the service tech also mentioned installing shielding, which apparently protects the power steering hose from the heat in the nearby manifold area. It seems that is the actual change of the set-up addressed in the recall.

The failure of the power steering hose is related to underhood heat. A lot of US TSX cars will not be affected because they are in the northern part of the country - but the government regulations do not differentiate between "northern" and "southern" cars. Canada is cooler - and therefore the hose may not fail. The regulations for recalls for US and Canada are also probably different.
