Question Rear Seat Bolster Removal

I've got the manual and have read how to remove the rear seat bolster, but I need to hear someone's version who has actually done it b/c I wasn't successful. Need to do this for a rear spring installation.

I just did it today. Its mad easy. What do you need? There basically one bolt on the side of the bolster (next to the door). Unscrew this bolt and then when its out, take the bolster and pull it up towards the ceiling. It should pop and there ya go.

I'm assuming you've already gotten the seat bench off? after that's out this bolt is at the bottom of the bolster, above the side sill (would be covered by the bench if it were there). unbolt and pull bolster up.

Whoops, sorry that I didn't make that clear. Yes in everything you said

When I installed my coilovers last year, I was able to remove the side bolsters without removing the seat bench.

I've never tried it w/o removing the bench, how'd you get to the bolt, just a wrench in there?

Just a deep socket, an extension, and the rachet. You will have to press down on the bench seat in order to get to the bolt. I think a shorter socket and a swivel (sp?) adapter may make it easier.

I would like to get a pic of the back of the boslter. When I tried to pull mine out, it wouldn't go and I did remove the single screw. I tried pulling up, over, sideways, etc and it wouldn't budge.

I don't have a great pic, this was the closest I got when I was adjusting my Teins.....

There's nothing holding it in except pressure-there's two long hooks on the back of the bolster; you can kinda see the lower one in the pic, and they just slide into slots, but they're not clipped in per se. Just pull straight up hard.

Thanks xizor. I guess I wasn't pulling up straight enough. I'll have to try this when I get a free moment. Odd that I couldn't get them off mine.

Well, I finally got the passenger side bolster off. Let's just say it took an IMMENSE amount of force.... AND I WEIGHT LIFT 4x a week!!!

I went to pull up with the same force on the driver's side and nearly punch the roof. Something was binding up the passenger side.

Thanks again... I did the spring install (the reason for my question) and I'll be posting pics soon.
