Well, it's something different.

I would still like to have the option, even with "all of the fog" that hits the Dallas area

Don't get me wrong, I think a rear fog is 100x more useful than front fogs.

I agree. I was being facetious about the amount of fog in Dallas. I just like options, even though the rear fog would barely be used around my area. Regardless, I would still like to have it

What is the function of a rear fog light? Isn't it the same as having the lights on? Or is it like a DRL for the back?

It's about as bright as your brake lights but it stays on all the time. It just makes it a lot easier for you to see the car ahead of you in a thick fog. They call them "follow-me-home" lights overseas.

While I've think rear foglights are a great idea, has anyone noticed how obnoxious it is to follow someone with one of these on during a clear day? I can't even count the number of times I've been behind someone and feel blinded cause people seem to have the idea that "more lights = better".

That's because most drivers don't have any idea how to use fog lights properly. Most German cars that come with fogs have a rear fog installed too. I bet most of the drivers you see driving around during the day with their fogs on don't even know they have a rear fog.

i've loooked into this...

the tsx rear tail light cost about 130 per side and we only need one.... so it's somewhere around
hat ball park...

no clue how the wiring will work... there are no rear fog lights in japan (that i've seen)

in UK it's on the right.. and germany and others are on the left...

That makes sense... they drive on the wrong side of the road.

My mom's A6 has the rear fog light. It's obnoxiously bright.

My Jetta also had the connection for the rear fog light (on both sides), but no bulb or switch to turn it on. I saw some people online that put bulbs in both spaces available for the fog lights and run them in parallel with the brake lights. It's a cheap mod to make the car more visible.

Yep, for foglights. I'm always pretty happy if I can get hooked up following someone with these on during foggy conditions. Otherwise, it gets annoying.

I can't agree with you on that one. with the right bulbs, the yellow fog light bulbs, you can see a lot then you can with regular 55 watt halogen bulbs.

I have the stalk from the euro Accord becuase it came with the OEM fogs from the UK. It has the switch on it for the rear fog.

Only question I have is if I got the rear light assembly, would I have to perform any special wiring to make it work.

Pic of my euro fogs.

when i was in the uk every american car that was brought over had to have one. i have seen every way possible to install a rear fog light. they get pretty creative. my third brake light was converted into one with the switch under the dash. i think that it is possible all you will probably need are the lights the wiring and the switch. jm
