Sorry for the

About the 8's, the only practicle way to mount them is using some type of non wooden adapter. Like fiberglass. I tried a couple of times. Would love to see someone do it if I don't get to it first. Good luck! I luv 8's!
My memory is awful, was thinking he was 87 here, but was 83. Sucked to see him leave. Could definately use him back.
That trunk mod looks farly simple, might do it in the coming weeks then look into the 8's idea. I'll keep you posted.

If all goes well we will see the bucs vs the hawks for the NFC.
I would be torn

It seems as if I lost the real bass part of the 6x9's when I went full range. I thought it would keep the same bass and just add the extra highs, but it didn't seem to work out like that. No big loss since I have subs now. But as far as the full range 6x9's go, I love them. Everything sounds so good. Very happy with all the speakers I put in.
I still have 1 issue left, and thats unfcuking my rca conversion setup. I have found that there are more issues than just noise on those lines. Theres actual audio signal bleed through. I have my subs set up on the rear channels and if I fade all the way to the front and turn all the bass down you can still hear the subs. You shouldn't be able to. I have just been too lazy to un-butcher my rca's and replace my OEM amp. Then I am going to connect LOC's to the 4 door speaker outputs to send the signal to the amps. That should eliminate the noise and give me proper fade and balance functions.

The rear door speakers were left wired to the stock amp, and everything was hooked up so I could still fade front to back even though the back has 2 different amps essentially.
While it's no 10"+ subwoofer, I have had people ask me what kind of sub I have and I get to say "none!".
(PS - we only have one car: the TSX, and need the trunk... too hard to manage putting a stroller in the trunk with a big ass sub in the way)

Vito, if you don't mind, which amp did you go with and where did you install it? How much did your setup cost?
I think just adding amp alone would be a big improvement for the TSX.

Couldn't find it very fast, but I know I saw the wire colors somewhere in the A/V DIY thread for the TSX.

I did have the polarity crossed and thats why my typeS speakers sounded like crap.
I'm such as idiot.
THANK YOU!
I spend the whole day yesterday trying out different speakers. Here is my review, based on my person perference.
I tried the kenwood KFC-6949S which were the cheapest speakers. They produce about the same or lower quality sound as the stock Pioneer but they seem to be built better. REJECTED

Next up is the Kicker KS69. As far as bass, these baby felt the best to my ear and arse. HOWEVER, they do not fit the TSX, the screw holes do not line up with the holes on the speakers. I was only able to put two of the four screws back in. You can drill the holes on the speakers to make it bigger but I didn't want to mess with that. Also the plastic ring is glue to the top of the speakers so you have to pry it off with a flat head else you won't be able to close the stock grill. That or grine the stock grill bottom. RETURNED

Tried the MTX TDX6902.....not as good as the TypeS plus the holes on the speakers are round instead of oval so they don't really fit unless you're drill it bigger. RETURNED

So here I am, back with the Alpine Type-S which are the winners for me. Bass is slightly below the Kickers. Everything else is right, these do sound better then stock (when I got the polarity right geez). They slide right in and screw up nicely. Fits inside the stock grill. IMPRESSIVE, perfect for the TSX rear deck.

I want to thank everyone esp CJams for finding me the correct wires. Pretty soon I'll probably upgrade the front door speakers too. Great forum!!!

The amp was custom installed on its side against the rear right panel in the trunk behind the wheel on a vertical steel mount with a custom cover and fan vent.
I spent the money most spend on the nav unit and spent it on 4 speakers (all MBQ Reference), an amp and professional installation (using the stock head unit, which I had to have replaced because it was skipping on cds). Threw in some additional insulation in the doors and I paid ~$2,500 at Magnolia A/V in Bellevue. The lead installer did the work, which took longer, but the work is quality - his nickname is Woody.
I finally hooked my amp up to the Alpine 6x9s. It gives them enough power to produce nice clean bass without drowning out the factory speakers. If the speakers alone aren't playing loud enough with the factory amp I would recomend adding a small one. This is what I used http://mtx.com/caraudio/products/amp...hunder251D.cfm
raltsx1,
So with that amp, you don't need to run power from the battery?
How did you install it?
Did you splice into the speaker inputs going into the factory amp?
Did you need to run new speaker wire to the new speakers?
Where did you install it?
I'd be VERY interested in an amp that could basically just replace the factory amp in the same location with a MINIMAL amount of work (allowing me to upgrade to some decent speakers). I doubt this exists though. But if it does, please share!!

Beyond that, you're out of my league if you're in a higher price range than that. You might also consider a sub if you're looking for that thump. Just as an aside, as project studio recording nut, I can tell you that thump (or, really, thwack) you feel from a kick drum is not bass in the subwoofer sense. It's about 250Hz-500Hz. It's more the result of a well-engineered album than a subwoofer.
Good luck!

Cool, Do you produce/edit your own music? I would like to hear some samples?

Good review! A few people have gone with the pines on the board! And yes! This forum does kick ass! It helped save me lots of time money and energy while building my ride! I think the collective minds here may know as much or more than the guys that built the car
hmmmmm....Maybe we should be involved with the design of the 07?

There are some Diamond Audio M391i 6X9 Speakers for sale in Black Market. They look pretty decent.
