Question Rear Deck Lid Spoiler?

Does anyone know if there is a "official" or close to official deck lid spolier yet? I searched the post and found one thread, but the pictures were too old so they did not load.

I like the idea of a small, unobtrusive spoiler, but think the factory OEM is a little much (just my opinion). Have seen nothing via searches on the net.

Yes you can get it from AJ racing - where it costs $479.

Or you could just buy a 46" M3 lip off of ebay ($33), get it painted ($100) and install it yourself with the provided 3M adhesive like I and others have done.

I brought mine in to get painted last week, should have it installed soon.

The key to fitting a lip spoiler on the TSX is the width. A 46-inch lip spoiler fits the TSX perfectly without the worry of coming up short or having to trim.

The lip spoiler for the 94-97 Accord is typically 46-inches.

This is the one I got on ebay:
94-97 Accord M Sport Trunk Lip Spoiler

It's your typical urethane spoiler and of good quality.

I am anxious to get this on my TSX once I take delivery. I am having the lip spoiler and a Mugen grill painted at the same time whenever my grill arrives from Boom Plus Toys.

M3 style lip yes, but not the one fitted for a BMW M3. I believe the actual M3 spoiler is either a bit short or a tad too long for the TSX. That is why I bought the lip that is fitted for the 94-97 Honda Accord since it is 46-inches long. The application really doesn't really matter as long as the lip spoiler is 46-inches to give you a perfect fit on your TSX.

Just bring it to a reputable body shop and have them paint it. They will use the paint code from your car and/or use a Dupont Chromovision paint camera to figure out your paint match.

I'ts not a difficult task for body shop that knows what they are doing. They make blendable matches for all sorts of cars they need bodywork after collisions etc. Any good shop will probably do special prep-work on the spoiler before painting any will probably add some sort of flex-agent to the paint so it becomes more chip-resistant and can flex with the urethane.

Yes, it should be good. 46-inches is the the correct length. If you decide to go with it, let us know how it the paint turns out; it could save some interested people from having to get their spoilers painted locally.

Definently post pics if you go through with it, would love to see it.

Or just roll by my townhome in Bartlett and honk real loud

One other thing, is that 3M adhesive really that good? Whereas in 6 months, is half of it going to be loose and one day, while driving, I glance in my rear view and witness the rear lip spolier fly off the truck and decapitate some poor soul walking home with a Reese's Piece's Blizzard from Dairy Queen

Liquid or tape, I don't think it's gonna go anywhere even under high speeds. If someone really wants to rip something off your car, it will come off regardless of how it is adhered to you car. Spoiler vs Prybar = Spoiler gets OWNED! LOL

3M tape does stick like a bastard - hell even seen ground effects held in place by that stuff! My biggest fear with epoxy is what if you want to remove the spoiler, does the paint go with it?

gfxdave99 - I looked at that link, and that says it is for an E46 BMW, NOT 46" in length. Definately check this first...

In general the E46 spoiler is 46" inches. At least all the other ones that are advertised for the E46 are. But it is a good idea to ask the dealer how long it is.

I believe Accsuperstar got the one made for the BMW and he had to do a minor trim on each end of the spoiler for it to not overrun the width of the trunk lid. I will try to find the exact thread where it is mentioned...

Is there any way I can find some Primer, Paint, and Overgloss and do all the painting myself? I've painted lots of things, prime, sand, and paint, and it's not that bad. I just want to know if there some place that sells car paint.

How much does a professional body shop usually do it for?
