rear brakes are screeching 25k miles

hey all, i have 06 tsx with 25k miles and my rear brakes will screech on the first few brake applications after turning on the car. After that it doesnt screech, i havent had time to check the pad life yet. It cant be low, otherwise the brake indicators would go off, so whats causing this?

Assuming you're on the original pads, the rears do wear down faster then the fronts. The earliest I've read was a member saying theirs went out at 30K.

I'm at 35K with originals on my 06. No issues yet. Do you park outside in the rain? I notice that when I wash my car, the rotors build up a layer of rust if they are wet, and it will make a scraping sound for the first 2-3 stops, then it's fine. I think if the pads were low, they'd make that noise all the time. But I'm not exactly a brake expert.

But if you drive hard, you'll wear your pads out quicker. Might not be a bad idea to get them checked if you're worried.
