Real Time Traffic
Real Time Traffic
I have searched for this before but I have been unable to find anything about our navigation that pertains to the real time traffic. I wanted to find out if there is any way to get real time traffic on our tsx navigation since all the other acura vehicles have real time traffic. Also is it possible to use like the TL navigation dvd in our navigstion system?
You can't get it for the TSX. The traffic data link is handled by hardware that's not present. I don't think you can use the TL dvd. I read that the TSX navigation is the same for the MDX, so you can install a back-up camera (this is for 2006 and up). However, if the MDX comes with real-time traffic, maybe there's just an add-on that we're missing?
I have the 2006 tsx and if the mdx is the same navigation then I am going to try to just put the dvd in and see if it is just the software. If not I will inform you back on the forum, thanks for the help. If anyone knows anything else about it please respond.
another member, can't remember his/her name, speculated that the traffic is built into the bluetooth module of other acuras. not sure if this is confimation, but pressing the bluetooth button while the map screen is displayed brings up the traffic icon on the tsx. it's not functional though. this member speculated that replacing the bluetooth module in the tsx with the one in the tl, rl or mdx might enable traffic on the navi. as far as i know, no one has attempted yet though. big rep points to you if you decide to blaze a trail. let us know how it goes!

I was checking out the 08 Acura TSX official website. It show the Navi TSX with traffic on the sample screen:

Look under: NAVIGATION SYSTEM (OVERVIEW) and click on Destination Database, enlarge the picture and it shows a TSX Navi with traffic information displayed.
Is this a new feature on the 08 TSX or a typo with the image?

edmunds.com owner review agrees
I was wondering about this, as I eagerly await my '08 TSX, especially because on edmunds.com there are 2 owner reviews of the 2008 TSX. The second one, in its entirety, reads:
so, maybe the picture on their website is accurate?

More color options would be great.

In the interests of getting an answer on this, I downloaded the 2008 TSX Navigation manual and then searched for "traffic"--several generic hits about congestion, obeying local traffic laws, etc., but nothing about real-time traffic. Unless it's not mentioned, or unless the techinfo site posts manuals that aren't the final version, it looks like the answer is "No" on this one. Bummer!
I bought an '08 last week and there is nothing about real-time traffic that I have found. I did search thru all the menus, etc... unless there is something that changes when I call in to activate the XM after my trial. I won't know until next week as I'm moving from LA to Miami and the car is being shipped right now.
Actually I just talked to 3 different dealerships in New Jersey around my area and found out that the 2008 tsx does have Real Time Traffic. Now I am just waiting to see that if it is just the disc that gives the difference because it actually works through the XM radio subscription. So once I find out tomorrow I will post back on the site and finally put an end to this long waited answer, if only on my part.

Gonna be a long week of waiting...

Thank you,
the Acura website in the TSX specs in makes no mention of real-time traffic, whereas every vehicle that has it listed in that section.
most dealers don't have a clue, so them saying it has it isn't to reassuring to myself
as far as the member that is using your 90 day trial of XM radio, I would check a new Acura that you know has real-time traffic at the dealer and see if it works. If it does then it comes as part of the trial.
there are plenty of former TSX'ers driving TL-S's, so they could also help out with checking if the 90 day XM trial covers real-time traffic

the image on the navi monitor looks to clean to be the actual image that was suppose to be there in the first place(i.e- no glare or reflections)
