Rattle update

I just dropped my 1 week old TSX off to have the windshield rattle fixed. I was happy to hear that I was not their first case and they have all the parts to fix it. However, I also noticed a vibration/rattle from the rear deck or trunk area (hard to tell from the front). Anyone have any idea what that might be. I got the "sometimes rattles are hard to identify from the service guy". I will wait to see if they fix it, but I fealt like saying "sometimes it is hard to spend 27k on a car that rattles right off the bat!!!". If it is not fixed this afternoon when I pick it up I may let them know exactly how I feel. If they could just fix these 2 little annoyances I would be completely satisfied with the car.

mjferguson,

That makes two of us...

I was sadly "glad" to see your post after I came back from lunch if only to prove that I'm not alone.

I just turned 350 miles on my 1 week old car and I too had a rattle out of the rear deck/trunk.

I was a little worried it was suspension related, but after listening to it it sounds like the rear deck itself or a trim piece.

Any ideas???

My first thought was a speaker? I will keep you updated on what the dealer tells me. I will have to ride back there with my wife driving if they can't fix it.

I also had a rattle from about 300-600 miles, but after almost 3000 miles it has disappeared... either that or i just got used to it.

Fixes section

Look in the fixes section of this forum. I know if has been posted a few times, just can't remember exactly where. I actually printed out the list and gave it to my dealer when I took my car in today.

At 130 miles on our new TSX I haven't heard the rattle from the rear yet, but we had a wicked rattle fromthe rear of our new Quest. The service techs couldn't find it but my wife did. We were washing it and my wife asked me if the rear license plate was supposed to be so loose. I tightened the screws holding it on and the rattle is now gone. Duh......

I have 6000 Km on mine and the only major rattle is coming from the trunk too. Let me know what they say about yours. (I also have a slight rattle in the right door but it happens once in a blue moon)

Wow..a rattle on the rear window? I have it on my front window but I fixed it by turning up my music a tad more. I do have noise coming from the back but it's a squeky noise from suspension parts.....I think

Update

Looks like my windshield rattle is fixed and I am taking the car back in tomorrow for the rattle coming from the trunk/rear deck. I thought it was the license plate, but tightened it down and still have rattle. Almost sounds like it is coming from underneath rear deck by brake light?

Sometimes teh torque springs for the trunk can cause noise by hitting up against itmes - such as aftermarket speakers. I had this problem so I just took some vacuum tubing and placed it around the metal bars (torque springs?). Also noticed the bottom of the license plate did not have screws. Added those too.

I have already had the the steering column and AT shift boot replaced because of rattles emanating from these areas. Guess what ... there are still rattles.

I'm beginning to think that it is not the particular parts but rather the engine, engine mounts or event the fan that is causing serious vibrations, which in turn are creating these interior rattles.

While Acura service has been great, I am MoFin' angry with Honda.
