My 2007 (215K miles) rack and pinion appears to be leaking at the seal where it connects to the steering column (see pics). It was replaced about 5 years ago, part from O'Reilly's, and only has about 55K on it. Has anyone had any luck with Stop Leak products? Although Lucas Stop Leak is guaranteed to work, the instructions are vague and I've gotten 2 different direct answers from them. Any experiences and/or better products?
Thanks

I noticed your post was over 2 yrs ago. Wish I'd seen it back then bc I'd have let you know Acura had a TSB about the rack and pinion. TSB-something car manufacturerers send to their dealerships that explain common issues they've found with cars, so when the floods of customers start coming in with the same probs, they'll know how to fix it. Essentially, many times it's stuff that ought to be a recall, but they don't tell the public & customers have to pay for the services.
Anyway, here's a photo of the first page...
So, Acura has been aware that they sold a bunch of TSXs with deformed seals. The service bulletin only mentions squeaking, but obv if the seals are deformed, then it's just as likely they'll leak fluid. My car stopped even holding fluid. You can pour it in & it'll just go right thru it once you start driving.
What did you end up doing about your rack and pinion? Did you happen to reuse the seals that came on the original rack when you replaced your rack?
