question for everyone that has the m3 trunk lip spoiler

hey guys..quick question. i just got my m3style lip spoiler delivered today. i did a quick test fit, and its not bad. the only thing that is a little off is the curve..it has to be bent a little to fit correctly. for those of you that have the lip spoiler, did you use any special technique to get it curved properly, or did you just stick the tape on and bend it to fit? i was thinkin maybe i should let it sit out in the sun for an hour or two before i install it so that it is more flexible... how did you guys do it??
thanks in advance

Stick and bend....thats what I did. A little advice though make sure you test fit the spoiler and use a low adhesive masking tape to mark off where you want it to sit on the trunk. Once you have it marked off, start with one end and work your way to the other.

Good luck!

There are 2 type of materials on the m3 lip spoiler. The ABS one is not that flex but the paint can be bond better. The polyuethene one is very flex but the paint is not that easy to bond, so if didn't paint it right, the paint will crack very easy.

I bought my M3 lip spoiler (45 3/4") on eBay from a guy named Sabersport and had it painted at a local body shop for $75. I used this site for a guideline on how to install it. For pics of my car, go here. Good luck!

That's actually the cheapest price quote I got. I went to 7 places in SoCal and the highest price was $229. Hell no! It took a day to do.

im tryin to get my friend to do it for free. but i think anything over 60-75 bucks is ridiculous. its a 46 inch long piece of skinny plastic.. it cant be that complicated.

another question: should i put the 3m tape on before its painted, or after the paint is on?

After. Just make sure you sand the underside of the spoiler to roughen the surface before you apply the tape.
