Quick question,

I know this topic has been beat to death, ive done research over the forums but a question for the pro's or those that have fit a factory nav unit....


I want to buy the navi unit off ebay there going for about 400ish

Example:

2004 Acura TSX Factory AM/FM CD6 Receiver w/Navigation - eBay (item 130464520892 end time Feb-08-11 14:53:24 PST)




It does NOt come with the dvd/navi disc reader thats an additional $ 3-400.


Question:

Can i buy the unit and hook up an aftermarket dvd player and use the screen simply to play dvds NOT NAVI.?

What would i need?


The unit
Some wires?
aftermarket dvd player that can be hooked up to the screen to be used as a movie player?
nav2dvd connector maybe? or a custom connector??




EDIT:

DOES THE CLIMATE CONTROL SHOW UP ON THE MONITOR WITHOUT THE DVD DISC/ OR EVEN A DISC READER?

I can only answer this part. I just sent my DVD player in for servicing at Alpine (see DVD Read Error thread). While the DVD reader in the trunk was missing for two weeks, the screen remained completely blank, no matter what buttons I pushed. Before I removed the disc reader, while getting the disk reading error, (basically no DVD reading) I was able to get the radio pre-sets/climate control/etc. to show up on the screen, but no maps. I have a 2005 TSX.
