Quartz vs Ebony Interior
Can anyone tell me whether ebony or quartz will "wear" better than the other? I have never had a leather interior and the sales guy tells me that the quartz will fade and wear faster than the ebony. This is somewhat counterintuitive - wouldnt black fade faster?
I like the contrast of the SSM/Ebony and CG/Quartz combos and trying to find out what may be tiebreaker of the two (assuming I can find either one around here).
Thanks as always....

Ive had tan interior before, which intuitively would be worse than either. Held up well over 10 years.
Wonder if that was a salesmans bs line? In hot part of country? Maybe tryin to move ebony?

The TSX is only has a leather trimmed interior meaning that only the perforated portions of the seat and i think the steering wheel is covered in leather. I would assume that fading wont be that big of an issue as to the fact that there is minimal amount of leather in the cars anyway. But then again what the hell do I know.

Focus more on your personal preference and habits rather than worry about any imagined potential for fading. Black will hide more wear & abuse than a lighter color, at the expense of showing more dust. You won't notice if someone accidentally marks your black seat with a pen, but you'll be more aware of the dust if you don't detail it often.

Re: Quartz vs Ebony Interior
I have the ebony interior. It looks stunning. Only problem I have with this color is the side of the front seats have a lot of wear marks. My mom's A6 with tan leather doesn't show wear as much as my TSX's "leather". It's something to consider, but not a heart breaker.
If I were shopping for a car today, I'd pick one with gray leather first, with black next.

I have the quartz and i like it. I've had black and tan before, tan most def looks like it wears faster, whereas darker colors tend to hide it more as long as you keep your seats 'moist' and treat them every few months to a nice bath in cleaner/moisturizer you wont have to worry about it.

First you can't really compare Audi leather with any other manufacturer except maybe their German brothers as Audi uses probably the highest grade leathers in the biz.
In general for upkeep I vote for black. It hides stains and scratches better andwhen it wears lots of conditioning doesn't show up darker (if that makes sense). A practical analogy would be shoes, I have maybe a dozen pair of dress shoes for work, it has always been easier to keep the black ones looking new and looking the SAME color as new than any other color. In my book the darker the leather (given the same initial quality) the longer you can keep it looking new.
A bigger issue with vinyl/leather matched interiors is the long term color stability of the pairing. At this point it would be too early to determine if which colors of TSX interior will remain "matched" over the long term.

I've had 3 different color interiors in cars (tan cloth, black cloth, and now quartz leather). Tan definitely shows actual wear the worst of all three. One thing I noticed with black though... black seemed to show dust/pollen the worst. I love the quartz interior, the transition from the quartz to the faux aluminum to the black dash is nice and it also looks nicer with the blue pimp lights (imho). I did get the all-weather mats though as New England has pretty good odds of staying muddy for more than 50% of the year.
