Price Quote Strategy

What is the strategy most of you used when contacting dealers (via email or otherwise) when negotiating for your TSX?

Did you send emails out to several dealers saying "give me your best price"?

Or

Did you send out an offer first to the dealers, and then ask them to match it?

Thanks!

One before the other.

0.) Select a dealer
1.) Ask dealer for his best price
2.) Thank him and return to step 0 for another dealer
3.) When you find a dealer with a good price, call the dealer you really want to work with and give him the quote you got and ask him to meet/beat it
4.) Wash, rinse, repeat.

Eventually you'll get a good deal, or at least the best deal possible.

for me i did:
- do research and find out dealer invoice, now you have a base line
- knowing the baseline and the markup, go to dealer and (at least i did) tell them i know the dealer invoice so cut the crap, here is my offer (the dealer invoice plus some markup but not full, maybe 20-30% of the markup, ie: if 900 is the full markup, ask for 300. Of course you can also try with $0 markup but give the guys a break they need to earn a living too)
- work your way up
- do that for more than one dealership
- drive the car away
