Dude its 2008 HID is like a freaking standard. It's like not having a cellphone.

It depends on the part of the world you life in. In the city I live in, very few people have them. Even most brand new cars have projector halogens here. But I do agree that they should be a standard. I will never use halogens again unless they are in conjunction with HIDs.

What kind of headlights were before halogens? I always thought halogens were the first ones out.

Good old sealed beam - where the glass and housing form one sealed unit and the filament burns inside this housing. The reflective coating in the back directs the lights forward much like a flashlight.
