Portland Oregon Quote on 05 TSX
Here is what I got so far: Dealer is trying to rip me off, this is what he had in his email:
MSRP on a 2005 Acura TSX, 6-speed manual, Non-Navigation, is $27,560. I will give you a discount of $750 off of MSRP.
That's really the real msrp + destination. MSRP is 26,990 right?

i believe that msrp (manufacture suggested retail price) doesn't include destination charges.
i just looked at acura's website and yes $26990 is the msrp but that doesn't include the destination charges. if the dealer said that it is 27560 then gives you 750 off that is correct. destination charges is 550$. dealers cannot negociate dest charges.

I am getting $1000 off MSRP plus 15% off the body kit. so you really are getting screwed by the dealer. I am still paying the destination charge. This early, you aren't going to to much better for the '05.

What is the difference here really:
Total cost (including dest.) 27,560 - 750 = 26,810
or
MSRP 26,990 - 750 + 570 (dest) = 26,810
Desitination fees are always included in the bottom line.

Here's what to do:
Fax/call/e-mail dealerships and let them know that you are considering their crosstown rivals and whoever goes lower is getting your business.

At Ron Tonkin, deal with James LaFleur. He seems to be the best guy there. At Acura of Portland, I'd recommed Duane Phillips. Duane is no pressure whatsoever and overall just great. However, having not purchased a vehicle from him, I don't know how dealing goes.
Best of luck!

Here in a suburb of NYC, I'm getting an '05, non-nav., auto for $26,760, destination included.
I'm pretty happy with that price as apparently there is now a waiting list for the TSX; the dealer's entire TSX inventory for December and January is spoken for.

Here's an update:
I got a quote from acura of portland for an 05 Arctic blue pearl, non nav, ebony, with what they call the NW Package which includes: ( trunk
tray, splash guards, wheel locks, all season mats) for $27,000 including destination. Is this a good deal?

I'd say you should be able to get the extra stuff for the same $26,x price. I guess they're playing harder ball then they were previously. . .

Evenq,
Getting a good deal on a TSX is relative to the supply and demand in your local area.
I looked at Carsdirect.com, which can be a good borometer of the going rate for car prices depending on the area. Unfortunately, their price for the TSX based on established agreements with local dealers is holding at $27,560 (MSRP w/dest.) for the Portland area. This price is different for instance in the Southern Cal. area, where the Carsdirect price for the same TSX right now is $26,271 w/dest. I know that carsdirect gets about a $500 commision from the dealer that sells the car.
My point is that if Portland Acura is willing to sell you the car for $27,000, then you are pretty much getting the going rate for the TSX in your area at this time. If you want a better deal, you would have to engage them in serious negotiations. Invoice is $25,171. So if you can negotiate a price between $25,171 and $27,000 for your car, then I would say you have done better than average in getting a good deal for the TSX in your area.
Hope this helps you.
Good Luck!!!!!

have you tried the acura in eugene, or. it's called kendall honda, and they gave me a great deal, and their service is good. you should ask for an internet quote first, because when i got my quote is was surprised at how low it was. and then i went in and took it for a test drive, and started negotiations with the dealer. the dealer gave me a price, and then i told him about my online quote, and he was suprised, that the quote was around 2-3 k less then what the dealer had first thought. i then pushed him a little more and got an awesome price, and i bought it right there and then, same time as a test drive. talk about impulse buying. but check these guys out their good.

I have been lurking for awhile now, but joined just to second the endorsement of Kendall Acura in Eugene. I called Chuck Spresser and we determined the price over the phone and I put a deposit down. This was back in November and I got one of the first off the boat (arrived 1st week in Dec). At the time, he gave a better price than both dealerships in Portland and the one in Salem. No surprises, no sleaziness, only great service. I highly recommend Chuck. Back in December, I paid $28K for CGP Auto Nav. A pretty good deal when they weren't even off the boat yet, and dealers were asking more for a 2004!

yes, Chuck Spresser is the one who gave me the internet quote. my salesman was Michael Laborde. he was cool, not pushy at all, i took my time looking at the car, and checking it out and stuff, and he was patient, he wasn't sell, sell, sell, he was like go ahead and look. the car really sells itself. he just told me a few specs, and i was sold. DrKimberly, i'm assuming yours is an '05? cool, mine is CG too.

Yep, mine is an 05. I am so happy that I waited for the 05. I love the XM integrated into the NAV screen.

Regardless of what he saids, you should be able to take it down. Dealers in N. Cali have quoted me $26211 (including dest). If your portland one isn't budging from his $750 off msrp. Fly over here and drive back.
